Embracing Technology for Sustainable Agriculture

In an effort to promote organic agriculture and address the economic challenges faced by the country, the SLIIT Rotaract Club Community Services embarked on the Farmer 2 Farmer project. Following the successful Phase 1, which focused on empowering households with the knowledge and resources for home gardening, Phase 2 aimed to explore innovative ways to increase crop production. This blog dives into the details of this transformative project and highlights the role of technology in modern agriculture.

Phase 1 of Farmer 2 Farmer laid the foundation by equipping participants with the necessary information and resources to engage in home gardening and enhance self-sufficiency in food production. Building upon this, Phase 2 aimed to take agriculture to the next level by harnessing the power of technology. In a series of online webinars conducted via platforms like Zoom and Google Meet, participants delved into the world of cutting-edge agricultural technologies.

The webinars featured guest speakers who shared their expertise and experiences. Dr. J.P. Kirthisinghe, the Dean of the Faculty of Agriculture at Aquinas College of Higher Studies, enlightened participants about the importance of organic farming practices and their impact on sustainable agriculture. Ms. K.D. Prabhadhari Jayasinghe, a consultant in Hydroponic Technology, provided valuable insights into soil-fewer farming methods that maximize crop yields.

In Phase 2, the project reached its pinnacle with a webinar featuring Mr. Chathuranga Bopeththa, the Agricultural Manager at Hayleys Agriculture. His session focused on the latest advancements in agricultural technology and its potential to revolutionize farming practices. Participants gained knowledge about precision farming, vertical farming, and the use of drones and sensors in crop monitoring and management.

The Farmer 2 Farmer project aimed to achieve several key objectives. Firstly, it sought to empower participants with the necessary information and skills to actively engage in organic agriculture. By doing so, the project aimed to promote income generation and improve livelihoods within the community. Additionally, the project aimed to instill a passion for agriculture among younger generations, fostering economic and community development in the long run.

The project garnered significant interest, with a total of 90 participants attending the webinars. The enthusiasm and active participation of the attendees further fueled the success of the Farmer 2 Farmer initiative. The diverse range of backgrounds and experiences among the participants created a rich learning environment, facilitating the exchange of ideas and fostering a sense of community.

The Farmer 2 Farmer Phase 2 project showcased the commitment of the SLIIT Rotaract Club Community Services to promote sustainable agriculture and improve livelihoods. By combining traditional knowledge with cutting-edge technology, participants were equipped with the tools to embark on a journey of organic farming and contribute to economic and community development. The collaboration with guest speakers and the active engagement of the participants made this project a resounding success. As the Farmer 2 Farmer initiative continues to evolve, it will pave the way for a greener, more sustainable future in agriculture.

කාබනික කෘෂිකර්මාන්තය ප්‍රවර්ධනය කිරීම සහ රට මුහුණ දී ඇති ආර්ථික අභියෝගවලට විසඳුම් සෙවීම සඳහා SLIIT රෝටරැක්ට් සමාජයෙහි  ප්‍රජා සේවා මාවත විසින් “Farmer 2 Farmer” ව්‍යාපෘතිය ආරම්භ කරන ලදී. ගෙවතු වගාව සඳහා අවශ්‍ය දැනුම හා සම්පත් සමඟින් කුටුම්භය සවිබල ගැන්වීම කෙරෙහි අවධානය යොමු කළ සාර්ථක පළමු අදියරෙන් පසුව, 2 වන අදියර බෝග නිෂ්පාදනය ඉහළ නැංවීම සඳහා නව්‍ය ක්‍රම ගවේෂණය කිරීම අරමුණු කර ගෙන ඇත. 

“Farmer 2 Farmer” හි පළමු අදියර ගෙවතු වගාවේ නියැලීමට සහ ආහාර නිෂ්පාදනයේ ස්වයංපෝෂිතභාවය ඉහළ නැංවීමට අවශ්‍ය තොරතුරු සහ සම්පත් සහභාගිවන්නන් සන්නද්ධ කරමින් අඩිතාලම එකකරන ලදී. මෙය මත ගොඩනැඟීම, තාක්ෂණයේ බලය උපයෝගී කර ගනිමින් කෘෂිකර්මාන්තය ඊළඟ මට්ටමට ගෙන යාම 2 අදියරේ අරමුණ විය. Zoom සහ Google Meet වැනි වේදිකා හරහා පවත්වන ලද මාර්ගගත වෙබ්නාර් මාලාවක, සහභාගිවන්නන් අති නවීන කෘෂිකාර්මික තාක්‍ෂණයන් පිළිබඳ සොයා බැලූහ.

මෙම වෙබ්නාර් මාලාවේදී ඔවුන්ගේ විශේෂඥතාව සහ අත්දැකීම් බෙදාගත් ආගන්තුක කථිකයන් ඇතුළත් විය. ඇක්වයිනාස් උසස් අධ්‍යයන විද්‍යාලයේ කෘෂිකර්ම පීඨයේ පීඨාධිපති ආචාර්ය ජේ.පී.කිර්තිසිංහ මහතා කාබනික ගොවිතැන් පිළිවෙත්වල වැදගත්කම සහ තිරසාර කෘෂිකර්මාන්තයට ඒවායේ බලපෑම පිළිබඳව සහභාගිවන්නන් දැනුවත් කරන ලදී.  හයිඩ්‍රොපොනික් තාක්‍ෂණය පිළිබඳ උපදේශකවරියක වන කේ.ඩී. ප්‍රභාධාරි ජයසිංහ මෙනවිය අවම පසක් භාවිතයෙන් බෝග අස්වැන්න උපරිම කරන ගොවිතැන් ක්‍රම පිළිබඳව වටිනා අවබෝධයක් ලබා දුන්නාය.

2 වන අදියරේදී, හේලීස් කෘෂිකර්ම කළමනාකරු චතුරංග බෝපෙත්ත මහතා සහභාගී වූ අධියරත් සමඟ ව්‍යාපෘතිය අවසන් විය. ඔහුගේ සැසිවාරය කෘෂිකාර්මික තාක්‍ෂණයේ නවතම දියුණුව සහ ගොවිතැන් පිළිවෙත් විප්ලවීය වෙනසක් කිරීමට ඇති හැකියාව පිළිබඳව අවධානය යොමු කළේය. සහභාගිවන්නන් නිරවද්‍ය ගොවිතැන, සිරස් ගොවිතැන සහ බෝග නිරීක්‍ෂණය සහ කළමනාකරණයේදී ඩ්‍රෝන යානා සහ සංවේදක භාවිතය පිළිබඳ දැනුම ලබා ගත්හ.

Farmer 2 Farmer ව්‍යාපෘතිය ප්‍රධාන අරමුණු කිහිපයක් සාක්ෂාත් කර ගැනීම අරමුණු කරයි. පළමුව, කාබනික කෘෂිකර්මාන්තයේ සක්‍රීයව නියැලීම සඳහා අවශ්‍ය තොරතුරු සහ කුසලතා සමඟ සහභාගිවන්නන් සවිබල ගැන්වීමට එය උත්සාහ කළේය. එසේ කිරීමෙන් ප්‍රජාව තුළ ආදායම් උත්පාදනය ප්‍රවර්ධනය කිරීම සහ ජීවනෝපාය මාර්ග වැඩිදියුණු කිරීම ව්‍යාපෘතියේ අරමුණ විය. මීට අමතරව, දිගුකාලීන ආර්ථික හා ප්‍රජා සංවර්ධනය පෝෂණය කරමින් තරුණ පරම්පරාවන් අතර කෘෂිකර්මාන්තයට ඇල්මක් ඇති කිරීම ව්‍යාපෘතියේ අරමුණයි.

මෙම ව්‍යාපෘතිය සැලකිය යුතු උනන්දුවක් ජනනය කරන ලද අතර, සමස්ත සහභාගිවන්නන් 90 දෙනෙකු වෙබ්නාර් සඳහා සහභාගී විය. සහභාගිවන්නන්ගේ උද්යෝගය සහ සක්‍රීය සහභාගීත්වය ගොවි 2 ගොවි මුලපිරීමේ සාර්ථකත්වයට තවදුරටත් ශක්තියක් විය. සහභාගිවන්නන් අතර ඇති විවිධ පසුබිම් සහ අත්දැකීම්, අදහස් හුවමාරු කර ගැනීමට සහ ප්‍රජාව පිළිබඳ හැඟීමකට පහසුකම් සලසමින් පොහොසත් ඉගෙනුම් පරිසරයක් නිර්මාණය කළේය.

Farmer 2 Farmer Phase 2 ව්‍යාපෘතිය මගින් තිරසාර කෘෂිකර්මාන්තය ප්‍රවර්ධනය කිරීම සහ ජීවනෝපාය වැඩිදියුණු කිරීම සඳහා ප්‍රජා සේවා සඳහා SLIIT Rotaract Club හි කැපවීම ප්‍රදර්ශනය කරන ලදී. පාරම්පරික දැනුම හා නවීන තාක්‍ෂණය ඒකාබද්ධ කරමින් කාබනික ගොවිතැනක ගමනක් ආරම්භ කිරීමට සහ ආර්ථික හා ප්‍රජා සංවර්ධනයට දායක වීමට අවශ්‍ය මෙවලම් සහභාගිවන්නන්ට ලබා දෙන ලදී. ආරාධිත කථිකයන්ගේ සහයෝගීතාවය සහ සහභාගිවන්නන්ගේ සක්‍රීය සහභාගීත්වය ව්‍යාපෘතිය ඉතා සාර්ථක විය. “Farmer 2 Farmer” මුලපිරීම අඛණ්ඩව විකාශනය වන බැවින්, එය කෘෂිකර්මාන්තයේ හරිත, වඩා තිරසාර අනාගතයක් සඳහා මග පාදනු ඇත.

 இந்த திட்டத்தின் இரண்டாம் கட்டம், ஜூம் மற்றும் கூகுள் மீட் போன்ற தளங்களில் நடத்தப்பட்டு இணைய தளம் மூலம் அதிநவீன விவசாய தொழில்நுட்பங்களை பங்கேற்பாளர்களுக்கு அறிமுகப்படுத்துகிறது. புகழ்பெற்ற விருந்தினர் பேச்சாளர்கள் தங்கள் நிபுணத்துவம் மற்றும் அனுபவங்களைப் பகிர்ந்து கொள்கிறார்கள், நவீன விவசாயத்தின் பல்வேறு அம்சங்களைப் பற்றி பங்கேற்பாளர்களுக்கு அறிவூட்டுகிறார்கள். நிலையான விவசாயத்திற்கான இயற்கை விவசாய முறைகளின் முக்கியத்துவம், பயிர் விளைச்சலை அதிகரிக்க மண்-குறைந்த விவசாய முறைகள் மற்றும் விவசாய தொழில்நுட்பத்தில் சமீபத்திய முன்னேற்றங்கள் ஆகியவை உள்ளடக்கிய தலைப்புகளில் இந்த கட்டம் அமையும்.
