In a world where challenges abound, the fight against polio stands out as a beacon of hope and determination. Driven by the vision of a polio-free world, the Interact Club of St. Bridgets Convent and Rotaract Clubs of SLIIT, American National College (ANC), and CFPS Law School joined hands to launch ‘Eradicor’, a groundbreaking initiative commemorating World Polio Day.
‘Eradicor’, a name derived from ‘eradicate’, was a visionary and multifaceted venture dedicated to celebrating the progress made in the fight against polio and galvanizing efforts for its complete eradication. The highlight of this initiative was the Poster Competition, which invited creative minds to envision and depict a polio-free world, channeling their creativity into impactful art. With an open invitation to all, the competition garnered 24 poster submissions, culminating in the declaration of Tenuli Jayasundera as the winner through an online voting process involving all club chairpersons and presidents.
The strategic poster campaign and robust community engagement of ‘Eradicor’ substantially increased public awareness about polio, its impacts, and the importance of vaccination. By organizing and promoting the poster competition, collecting submissions, and announcing winners, the initiative significantly enhanced the visibility of the polio eradication message. The winning posters, prominently displayed on social media, effectively reached a broad audience and conveyed the importance of the cause in a creative manner.
‘Eradicor’ has been a resounding success, uniting people from different walks of life in the fight against polio. Through this initiative, the project not only commemorated the strides made in eradicating polio but also energized and mobilized a global community. It has demonstrated that with collective effort and creativity, we can make history and ensure that polio becomes a relic of the past.
As we reflect on the success of ‘Eradicor’, let us be inspired to continue our efforts towards a polio-free world. Together, we can turn the vision of a polio-free world into reality, leaving a legacy of health and hope for generations to come.
