SYNERGIST ~ Day 1

On a rather chilly, rainy Saturday morning, we kicked off Project Synergist, the training session for the freshly sworn-in Board of Officials of the Rotaract Club of SLIIT, promising two days of growth and adventure. Nestled in the charming Olivia Bungalow in Wattala, Synergist was more than a training session, it was a chance for the board to build deep connections and create lasting memories before embarking on the year’s journey.

As board members began trickling into the venue on July 13th, the air buzzed with excitement and the sound of chatter. Despite the rain and wind swirling outside, the atmosphere indoors was anything but dampened. The day promised laughter, growth, and a bit of friendly chaos, just how we like it! It was great to see everyone mingling, taking in the unique charm of our setting. After some warm greetings, we dove into our icebreaker session, where we swapped stories and quickly established a bond that would carry us through this two-day adventure.

Next up was an engaging SWOT analysis of our club, where we broke into groups to brainstorm our Strengths, Weaknesses, Opportunities, and Threats. Not to forget, we had a compelling discussion to revitalize a project from the past. Ideas flowed freely, and even the rainy weather outside seemed to inspire our creativity!

Of course, no training session would be complete without some friendly competition. The top board had organized a fun bonding activity complete with amusing punishments for the latecomers. Let’s just say, crawling between others’ legs wasn’t on anyone’s agenda, but it turned out to be a memorable highlight!

After all that hard work, we gathered for lunch, which not only filled our stomachs but also strengthened our camaraderie. With our energy levels recharged, we returned to the agenda. Incoming President Rtr. Jayod Perera took the stage, delivering an inspiring address filled with wisdom and the kind of enthusiasm that made us all excited for the year ahead. We were also graced by insights from our Vice Presidents and Sgt. at Arms Rtr. Yasith Thalakotunna and Rtr. Vimeth Athukorala, emphasizing the importance of unity and teamwork.

As the afternoon wore on, we had our team introductions and project pitches, where each board member showcased their vibrant personalities and innovative ideas. From serious topics to silly jokes, there was never a dull moment!

When evening rolled around, we transitioned to outdoor training sessions, where we swapped our formal attire for something a little more comfortable. The chilly weather couldn’t deter our spirits as we splashed about in the pool and ran around the grounds, filled with fits of laughter and playful shenanigans.

Dinner was a delightful affair as we gathered around the table, relishing a feast that nourished both our bodies and spirits. But why stop there? The night only got better! After a hearty meal, we cranked up the music and danced our hearts out. Singing, dancing, and playing our favorite games, including a lively round of Mafia, kept us entertained until the wee hours of the morning—yes, you read that right! We finally wrapped up our eventful first day at 3 AM, exhausted but filled with joy.

Day 1 of Project Synergist was just the kind of kick-off we needed. The friendships we forged, the ideas we shared, and the laughter we enjoyed set a perfect tone for the year ahead, and cultivated a unity that surpassed all expectations. A single thought echoed through the minds of each board member: “An experience that will never be forgotten.” We can’t wait to see what Day 2 of Synergist has in store, eagerly anticipating the adventures that await us!
