New Horizons: Transition Meeting 2024-25

Change is the lifeforce of progress, and nowhere is this truer than in the dynamic realm of Rotaract. As one team passes the torch to another, it signifies more than just a handover, it’s a fresh burst of energy and new perspectives driving the club forward.

As the late morning sun cast its warm glow into the clear, blue sky, the atmosphere within the meeting hall of the Rotaract Club of SLIIT buzzed with excitement. Members trickled in, greeted by the anticipation of a momentous occasion—the transition meeting for the Rotary International Year 2024-25. Here, within these walls, emotions ran high, encapsulating a bittersweet blend of nostalgia and optimism for the future.

The transition meeting was far from just a formal procedure; it was a heartfelt farewell to the outgoing board and a rousing welcome to the incoming one, capturing the essence of renewal and the continuous cycle of growth and innovation within Rotaract. It signifies the cyclic nature of leadership, where outgoing members reflect on their year of service, sharing their triumphs, challenges, and lessons learned.

Rtr. Nivasheni Balenthiran, our outgoing Secretary took the stage, delivering a comprehensive report on the activities and achievements during the RI year 2023-24. Her meticulous recap highlighted the dedication and commitment exhibited , showcasing an array of projects that left a mark on the community.

Our Immediate Past President Rtr. Manisha Alwis painted a vivid picture of the past year—a year rich in collaboration, compassion, and camaraderie. She fondly recalled the impactful projects executed by the club, expressing her heartfelt thanks to the members who stood together through it all. The moment was bittersweet; every achievement celebrated also marked the end of an era.

As the applause settled, the spotlight turned to the incoming president, Rtr. Jayod Perera. With a spark of enthusiasm and determination, he shared the vision he has for the upcoming year. His words filled the room with optimism for what lies ahead, underscoring that change is indeed the essence of growth and progress. He welcomed the new Board of Directors with pride, introducing each member and their respective roles within the club. Of course , a special thank you goes out to our Guide Club Coordinator Rtr. Ishini Himansha and the Staff Advisor Ms. Jenny Krishara  for joining us on this transformative journey.

Rotaract embraces diversity as a core strength, and our transition meeting showcased this principle beautifully. Members from both the outgoing and incoming boards, each bringing unique backgrounds and experiences, united as one vibrant Rotaract family. This gathering became a dynamic exchange of ideas, inspiring participants and broadening horizons.

The transition meeting was not merely a formality; it was an exhilarating celebration of change—a testament to our shared vision of growth within the Rotaract community. It served as a reminder that each transition is an opportunity to embrace new ideas while building upon the solid foundation laid by those who came before. Together, we set the stage for the adventures awaiting us in the RI year 2024-25. As the new Board of Officials of the Rotaract Club of SLIIT, we pledge to Connect to Empower.
