As we step into the RI Year 2024-25, we are beyond excited to introduce a leader who’s not just exceptional but also hilariously fun: Rtr. Jayod Perera, the newly elected President of the Rotaract Club of SLIIT. With his trademark humor and a heart full of kindness, Jayod is ready to lead our club into a year brimming with laughter, purpose, and impact.

Jayod isn’t your typical leader; he’s a man of principle with a knack for making everyone laugh. “He works for a cause rather than for applause,” perfectly captures his approach to leadership. Jayod isn’t in it for the recognition; he’s driven by a genuine desire to uplift others and contribute positively to the community. His silent yet impactful demeanor and witty one-liners speak volumes about his character. He’s the kind of person who believes that true fulfillment comes from helping those in need and making the world a better place—one small act of kindness (and a good joke) at a time.

Silent but genuine, Jayod is an ambassador of compassion. He deeply cares about the well-being of others and is always ready to lend a helping hand to those in need. His kindness and empathy are evident in everything he does, from the way he interacts with his friends and family to his approach to work.

What’s it like to have Jayod Perera at the helm of the Rotaract Club of SLIIT? Imagine a leader who’s less concerned with accolades and more interested in ensuring that the journey is as enriching and enjoyable as possible. Jayod’s presidency isn’t just about leading; it’s about uplifting, inspiring, and making sure that everyone has a good laugh along the way. His girlfriend, our very own “first lady,” fondly calls him “such a nicceeee guyyy,” and we couldn’t agree more!

Jayod’s very witty humor means he always has a quip for every possible situation. Whether it’s a groan-worthy pun or a clever comeback, he’s the king of keeping spirits high and laughter abundant. And don’t even get us started on his competitive streak! Jayod is fiercely competitive, especially in online games. Whether it’s a heated round of Kahoot with an international club or an intense game of Among Us, you can bet he’s giving it his all—and probably throwing in a few hilarious jabs at his opponents along the way.

Last year, as the International Services Director, Jayod led some very interesting discussions with foreign clubs. His ability to connect with people from different cultures and backgrounds brought a unique perspective to our club, and we’re excited to see how he’ll continue to foster these international relationships as President.

Committed to fostering a culture of kindness and support among members, Jayod believes that by working together and lifting each other up, we can create a ripple effect of positivity that extends far beyond our club. His vision for the year ahead includes initiatives that promote community service, personal development, and collaboration, all grounded in the values of compassion, respect, and a healthy dose of laughter.

In a world where everyone’s competing for attention, Jayod’s quiet leadership and unwavering compassion remind us that sometimes, the best leaders are those who lead by simply being their true, kind, and funny selves.
