Amandi: The Cat Whisperer with a Smile

“Someone told me not to meow, so I went meow.” That’s Amandi for you –one of the co-Assistant Secretaries of the Rotaract Club of SLIIT for the RI Year 2024-25. With her infectious sense of humor and a knack for sarcasm, Amandi is the type of person who can turn a mundane moment into something memorable. She’s often heard quipping, “It’s me, my cat, and my random facts against the world 🤌,” a motto that resonates with her personality. Whether she’s cracking jokes or dropping random facts about the world, Amandi’s presence is always a delight.

Balancing dual degrees, including psychology, Amandi has a habit of applying her knowledge on unsuspecting club members–whether they realize it or not. You tend to find yourself in a deep conversion about life, only to realize she’s subtly applying something she learned in class. It’s a running joke that she’s always on the verge of considering substance abuse, but in truth, Amandi is a beacon of positivity. She’s always smiling, always ready to drop everything to help someone in need, embodying the true spirit of Rotaract.

Despite her seemingly boundless energy, Amandi is almost always sleep-deprived. Yet, she never lets it show or affect her enthusiasm. She somehow manages to juggle her academic responsibilities with her duties in the club, and still has time to be the first to offer a helping hand. Whether it’s organizing events or making sure everyone’s spirits are high, Amandi is there, making sure everything runs smoothly.

Her ability to manage her time effectively, along with her dedication and empathy, makes her a perfect fit for the role of Assistant Secretary. Amandi’s genuine kindness, coupled with her sharp intellect and humor, makes her an invaluable asset to the club. And while she might joke about substances, it’s her substance—her character, her empathy, her resilience—that truly stands out.

Dinuri: The Bookish Debater with a Heart of Gold

Meet Dinuri, or as her full name reveals, BDSM Perera – a fact that has sparked more than a few jokes among her friends. Rtr. Dinuri, the other half of the dynamic duo serving as co-Assistant Secretaries of the Rotaract Club of SLIIT for the RI Year 2024-25, is a force to be reckoned with, and brings a unique mix of intellectual curiosity and warmth to the role. Amandi adores her, saying, “She listens to me yap about poetry so I love her,” and adds, “She’s really sweet and values sleep. So far, we’ve trauma bonded a lot, so yay us!”

Dinuri’s love for animals, especially cats, is only matched by her voracious reading habit. In 2022 alone, she devoured 70 books, a personal record that speaks volumes about her dedication to learning and entertainment. Whether she’s engrossed in a book or binge-watching TV shows and movies, Dinuri finds solace and joy in her pursuits.

Passionate about climate change and women’s rights, Dinuri often finds herself in heated debates on these topics. Although she hasn’t debated anyone in Rotaract yet, it’s only a matter of time before her passion spills over into the club.As if her love for thoughtful debate isn’t enough, Dinuri is also pursuing an English degree, which makes her a perfect fit for the role of Assistant Secretary. With her sharp writing skills and attention to detail, she ensures that nothing is missed.

She lives by the quote, “In the end, we’ll all become stories. So make yours worth reading,” a mantra that guides her to make the most out of life and leave a lasting impact.

With a keen sense of time management and a commitment to getting work done on time, Dinuri is the epitome of responsibility. She might question whether she has her “shit together,” but her actions speak louder than words. Dinuri’s sweet nature, together with her creativity and dedication, makes her an ideal fit for the role of Assistant Secretary. Together with Amandi, she forms a powerhouse team that is sure to lead the Rotaract Club of SLIIT to new heights.

As Assistant Secretaries, we have high hopes that Rtr. Amandi and Rtr. Dinuri will provide exceptional support to our Secretary, Rtr. Charith.
