“There is no greater agony than bearing an untold story inside you.”— Maya Angelou
For the Rotaract Club of SLIIT, the art of storytelling is more than just a duty; it’s a passion shared by the club’s co-editors for 2024-25, Rtr. Tanuri Dissanayake and Rtr. Kavisha Yapa. At first glance, their partnership may seem surprising. They come from different backgrounds, have distinct personalities, and approach life in contrasting ways. Yet, they share two critical things: a love for writing and schedules so packed that finding free time feels like a luxury. Somehow, this unlikely duo has found a way to turn their differences into strengths, forging a collaborative bond that promises to elevate the club’s blog to new creative heights.
Tanuri is a whirlwind of energy and creativity. Her life is so full that if she ever had a moment to just sit back and relax, it would be a surprise. From juggling her academic responsibilities to participating in multiple extracurriculars, she’s always on the move, always pushing forward. This nonstop pace of life doesn’t slow her down; it fuels her. In fact, it’s what drives her to produce some of the most innovative and creative writing you’ll ever read. Tanuri’s writing style is nothing short of extraordinary. She has a unique ability to weave words into captivating narratives that draw readers in and leave them wanting more.
But it’s not just her writing that makes Tanuri stand out. She’s incredibly talkative, capable of holding a conversation for hours on end about anything and everything. Whether she’s discussing the latest club project or chatting with friends, she’s always engaging, always friendly. Sure, she can be a little judgy at times, but who isn’t? What’s most remarkable about Tanuri is her unwavering dedication. This is someone who, even after breaking her nose, continued to keep the blog running without missing a beat. Her loyalty and commitment to the club are truly inspiring.

Then there’s me, Kavisha Yapa. Writing about yourself is always a bit strange, so I turned to others for their thoughts, and here’s what they had to say. I might not be the loudest person in the room, and I’ve been told that I don’t always come across as the most approachable. But those who know me well describe me in a few specific ways. For one, I have a deep love for cats—a fact that I’m sure has come up in countless conversations. People have also pointed out that I have a subtle sarcasm that tends to speak volumes. I’m not the type to make a scene, but my quiet, often sarcastic remarks seem to leave a lasting impression. There’s a running joke that I’m afraid my boss will sell me on the black market, but it’s all in good fun and a testament to my dark sense of humor, which helps me stay grounded during stressful times.
Then there’s my so-called “maniacal brain,” as my friends like to call it. They think I have a knack for coming up with “the most devious of plans.” I suppose that’s true—my mind is always working, even when I’m quiet. But I’ve also been warned not to get triggered, because I can lose it if pushed too far. On the flip side, I’m also described as a bit of a “sloth” because I like to take things slow and steady whenever possible, which helps me stay balanced.

Working with Tanuri is amazing because we work together very well and others have noticed that as well. Despite our differences, we’re both deeply committed to our roles as editors, and we dedicate every spare moment to ensuring the Rotaract Club blog is full of engaging, creative content. I’m looking forward to what this year has in store for us. With Tanuri’s boundless creativity and my unique perspective (at least according to those around me)I believe we’re set for a year full of innovative blogs, plenty of laughs, and maybe even a few surprises. Here’s to a year of storytelling, collaboration, and making the most of every moment!
