As the Rotaract Club of SLIIT embarks on another inspiring year of service under the theme “Connect to Empower,” we are fortunate to have a pair of exceptional individuals leading two of its most vital functions—Corporate Partnerships and Finance. Allow me to introduce the formidable Rtr. Theeptika Umamahesan and the multi-talented Rtr. Dasuni Perera, the Directors who will be driving the club’s success from behind the scenes.
Stepping into the role of Director of Corporate Partnerships for the RI Year 2024–25, Rtr. Theeptika Umamahesan may be new to the position, but she’s already proving to be a force to be reckoned with. While she might not have much experience under her belt, Theeptika’s natural instincts and determination have already set her on the path to success. The club has full confidence that she will rise to the challenge, closing deals and forming partnerships that will enhance our resources.
But there’s more to Theeptika than her emerging business sense. Beneath that sharp exterior is a true sweetheart, someone whose kindness is evident to all who know her. Despite being, as she would admit herself, a bit irresponsible and, in her best friend’s words, “dumb”, in day-to-day life, she has a courageous and brave spirit that shines through in her interactions with others. Theeptika’s biggest challenge? Not knowing Sinhala, which can make communication tricky. Yet, she always finds a way to connect with those around her, proving that language barriers are no match for her determination.
A devoted dog mom and not one to embrace the typical “girly girl” image, Theeptika is an overthinker who often panics even when there’s nothing to worry about. But these little things only add to her charm, making her an integral part of the Rotaract family. As we step into this year of CONNECT TO EMPOWER, we can be sure that she will ensure that the industry recognizes and connects with our efforts to make the community a better place.
On the other side of the coin, we have the brilliant Rtr. Dasuni Perera, our Director of Finance for the RI Year 2024–25. An overworked architecture student by day, Dasuni is a multi-talented individual with a passion for living life to the fullest. She embodies the spirit of youth and growth, always striving to become a better version of herself while never losing sight of her playful, 16-year-old self.
Her passion for architecture is matched only by her occasional hate for it, and despite being an excellent swimmer and a former member of the editorial committee, Dasuni is just as comfortable being antisocial as she is making new friends.
Dasuni’s role as Director of Finance is a perfect fit for her unique blend of skills and personality. She’s a master at blackmailing (only for the most innocent reasons, obviously) and has a knack for manipulating situations to her advantage—a handy skill when dealing with numbers and budgets. Her forgetfulness and tendency to stress out over nothing might make her seem like a walking contradiction, but these traits only endear her to those who know her best. Just don’t expect her to recognize you without her glasses—she’s batshit blind without them!
Working alongside our treasurer, Rtr. Dulasha, Theeptika and Dasuni are well-prepared to handle the club’s finances with the same precision and flair that they bring to all their endeavors.
As we dive into the RI Year 2024–25, we are confident that with Rtr. Theeptika and Rtr. Dasuni at the helm of Corporate Partnerships and Finance, the Rotaract Club of SLIIT is in excellent hands. Their dedication, unique personalities, and commitment to the club’s mission will undoubtedly drive us toward greater success.
So here’s to a year of empowering connections and financial prosperity, wishing you both all the best and hope the cash flows in your favor!
