When it comes to keeping the Rotaract Club of SLIIT buzzing, no one does it better than our PR/IT Coordinators for the RI Year 2024-25, Rtr. Harithra Karunakaran and Rtr. Duwaragie Kugaraj. This pair is the epitome of work hard, play hard, bringing both dedication and humor to the team.
If you ever find yourself in need of a good laugh, Duwaragie is your go-to gal. Known around the club as the “one funny person who can make everyone laugh for no reason at all,” she brings a delightful dose of humor to our meetings. In fact, our Director of IT affectionately calls her “pulu (worm)” for her mischievous antics that always manage to lighten the mood.
Have you heard her say “okay”? Trust me, you haven’t. Duwaragie takes “okay” to a whole new level, peppering it into conversation like it’s confetti — at least ten times in a single sentence! “Okay, okay, guys okay, just listen, okay?” is a classic Duwaragie moment that could easily become a meme.
Now let’s talk about dedication. This overachiever is so focused on Rotaract that she’s currently undergoing trauma from her OSSA module lectures, which she’s been blissfully neglecting (we’re looking at you, Duwaragie!). Despite this chaotic balance of schedules, she’s determined to “get her life together” – and we have every faith that she will, even when her life currently feels like a chaotic sprint between work, campus, and Rotaract.
And yes, she’s that one morning person who texts the group at 4 am, serving as everyone’s personal alarm clock—whether they asked for it or not. With her side-eyes and judgmental looks, you might think she’s serious, but don’t let that deceive you! Duwaragie is the sweetest, most fun-loving person you could ever befriend. Her bond with Harithra is legendary, with endless conversations filled with mutual admiration.
But beyond the jokes and the early morning texts, Duwaragie is the type of friend everyone needs—the one who can lighten up even the most stressful day with her humor and warm personality. “Hopefully, I will be able to do a good job for RACSLIIT too with this hectic academic schedule,” she says, but we know she’ll nail it.
Now, let’s introduce the vibrant and hard-working Harithra. Once a self-proclaimed introvert, joining Rotaract has transformed her into a social butterfly who lights up every room (or online meeting) she enters. With her incredible work ethic, she’s the backbone of the PR/IT team, making sure everything runs smoothly.
Harithra is a true multitasker, juggling assignments for her IT degree while also helping her friends with their engineering and business assignments. Whether it’s crafting handwritten assignments for the Com and PR directors or assisting her friends with their coursework, she does it all with flair. Sometimes we wonder if she has a secret time-turner, given how effortlessly she balances everything!
But despite her studies in IT, you won’t often find her in the IT building or the new building — she’s usually attending engineering lectures in the engineering building with her friends. But don’t worry; it’s easy to find Harithra because she’s always on campus, all seven days of the week!
Always with her phone in hand, Harithra has perfected the art of speedy-reply, ensuring that she responds in mere seconds to every text. Her friends jokingly refer to her as an “agent sent by the FBI” because she seems to have an uncanny ability to gather intel on everything… whatever the mission may be, she’s right at the heart of it!
Harithra’s got a great sense of humor, too. When she’s not busy coordinating the PR activities, you’ll find her teasing Rtr. Shanjai and Rtr. Danush, always keeping the mood light and the team motivated.
Together, Harithra and Duwaragie form the perfect partnership. They support each other, share endless conversations praising each other’s work, and keep the Rotaract spirit alive with their dedication and camaraderie. Whether it’s pulling all-nighters or making the team burst into laughter, these two are truly a force to be reckoned with.
As they embark on this journey for the year 2024-25, we can’t wait to see what creative initiatives and delightful chaos will come from these two. Whether through hilarious TikToks or unforgettable events, we know that Duwaragie and Harithra will bring their special magic to life in the Rotaract Club of SLIIT.
So here’s to a fantastic year ahead with Rtr. Harithra and Rtr. Duwaragie leading the way—okay, okay, okay?
