Today, let’s talk about the person in the driver’s seat, the one behind the wheel, making sure everyone in the vehicle (our existing members) is engaged and inspired. In addition, he drives in a way that makes people take a double look to see what he’s all about, drawing in new faces to the journey. And unlike many who might just pass by, he’s one to stop and take everyone on board.

He’s an academic genius, a corporate high flyer, a dedicated Rotaractor and AIESECer, and a person known for his great sense of humour, unwavering helpfulness, and calm demeanor.

This multifaceted leader is our

Membership Director for the RI year 25-26,

Rtr. Nadun Weerakkody

He isn’t just a director, he’s the main navigator of our club’s growth, and making sure the ride is both inspiring and unforgettable for everyone on board.

When you first meet him, you might mistake him for someone who’s a bit annoying or only sociable when he needs something. But give it a second, and your whole script of him will be flipped. He’s a genuinely warm and caring person, and once you pay for his premium subscription, you get access to his sense of humour and that’s it, you’re stuck for life. From then on, the door of exit will be closed and you’ll have to be ready to handle a constant stream of jokes, as he has one ready for every single scenario.

Let’s be honest, it would be an honour to be in his friend circle. I mean adding to his humour, the true highlight of the premium subscription is getting to experience his favorite way to relax: a few drinks with friends. Under the influence, he’s someone who lets loose, laughs non-stop, and truly lives in the moment.

Beyond the humour and the wild stories, his true character shines through in his incredible compassion. He’s a genuinely caring person who holds immense respect for others and always looks out for them. He shows this in small, yet significant ways, like holding the door open for others. I’d bet nine times out of ten, this simple gesture is what you’ll remember most from your first interaction with him. Another of his admiring qualities is his appreciation for food. He never wastes a single bite, and in my opinion, that’s his greatest contribution to the world, his own quiet way of leaving the world a better place than he found it.

When you think of Nadun, the first thing that comes to mind is his undeniable chemistry with technology. His knowledge and passion for coding and anything IT-related is truly mind blowing. Last year’s event, Team Alpha, was the perfect example: while the rest of us were fully absorbed in games and scavenger hunts, Nadun was the one who had built the website and was maintaining it for the entire day. He was walking around with a laptop in his hand as if it were a natural extension of himself with his biggest and brightest smile on display. It was clear he was in his element.

It’s this very expertise that makes me so certain he will achieve his goal of reaching the top of the corporate world. I have no doubt that one day, his profound impact will be a headline we all see in a newspaper or a major publication. And honestly, it would be my absolute privilege to be the one to write that story.

While all of the above reasons make him the perfect person for the Membership Development Director role, what truly seals the deal is the way he handles conflict. During stressful situations, he has an incredible ability to be completely calm while simultaneously, the gears in his mind are turning to empathetically and logically find a solution. If you were at Team Alpha, you know exactly what I am talking about.

Now that you have read this far, I am sure there is no doubt that Nadun is exceptionally qualified for this position. But for someone with so much going for him, it’s quite hilarious that he struggles to get a girlfriend. That’s a season all his friends are impatiently waiting to watch unfold

So, to all the girls still reading: if you’re curious, he’s easy to spot. Just look for a guy in a white t-shirt and trousers, with a laptop in one hand and a saucy dish (his ultimate favourite food) in the other.
