In Rotaract, we’re known for making a difference, but you can’t serve on an empty tank! That’s where this duo come in. They are responsible to keep the hype up and make sure our club is thriving. To simply put it, they make sure you don’t just do Rotaract, you love Rotaract.

Meet our Co-Directors for Club Service for the RI Year 25.26:

The queen of energy, Rtr. Savithmi Nehansa Chandrasekara and the master strategist, Rtr. Vinula Dias!

To know Savithmi is to have someone who cares about you. Someone who anchors and grounds you. I think the word “good friend” should be refined in the dictionary as Savithmi.

She’s the one who will constantly check up on you like a worried mother. She deals with inconveniences that comes in friendships like a boss girl. In fact she doesn’t consider them as inconveniences, rather she will use the phrase: “what are friends for?“

Knowing her has only solidified one thing: she is everything you could ask for in a confidante. Her character is built on a concrete of trust, loyalty, and support. These are not just traits but the deep core values she lives by, making sure, you never spend a moment second-guessing her intentions. You can talk to her about anything from the big victories, to the messy in betweens’ because she is an excellent listener who listens to every word without judgment. This devotion makes her a once in a lifetime kind of person.

Being her friend is truly the best adventure you can ever have.

Savithmi is a pure wonderlust. She has a true passion for exploring the world. She loves seeking the thrill of the unknown by going on aventures and genuinely likes travelling. If I were a timetraveller, I’d bet money that she’s destined to continue the legacy of the great, great, great explorer:
Dora.

Her bag wouldn’t contain a map, but rather

a definitive palate of food, specifically anything spicy, a phone with no text option, only calls because that’s how she likes it and the entire Taylor Swift’s discography.

She would be the one bolting through the woods like a mad woman singing at the top of her lungs, “Are we out of the woods?”

I mean I can’t lie, it sounds fun.

The most defining character is how she transforms the energy when we are together. When I say she is a “fun girl,” she is the life of the party. She effortlessly DJs her way through the crowd, not with music, but with perfectly themed and well timed jokes that leave everyone in stitches.

She doesn’t just attend an event, she becomes the entire atmosphere. Her presence alone is the key ingredient to a memorable night.

Need proof of her commitment to chaos? There was this one unforgettable time she orchestrated a fake scenario and lied about something to her friends and kept up the charade for two days with absolute dedication. Do you now see what I mean?

My condolences to her friends who completely believed her.

However, beneath all that fun is a deeply grounded and impressive person. Savithmi is ambitious and works hard to get whatever she desires. If she starts something, she will 100% see it through to the end.

She has a remarkable ability that even I am envious of and that is to be able to adapt effortlessly to any situation or social circle. Whenever and wherever. It’s like she has a signal that turns on and she swiftly takes charge and eases the awkwardness. She has the emotional intelligence that reads a room instantly. So, without a doubt, she’s the best person to go to a place where you don’t know anyone else.

Pairing with her, and contributing the unbreakable code of commitment to the team is Vinula

Vinula gives off an intimidating aura when you initially meet him probably because of the way he carries himself. He strides with a certain professional vibe that immediately demands respect. But a chat with him and you will uncover a personality that is overwhelmingly caring and fiercely loyal. He is passionately protective of his loved ones so save yourselves and don’t even try to hurt someone he cares about. Because if you do, you will not meet the hero that Vinula usually is. Instead he would the villain, ready to burn down everything to save the one he loves.

I mean the man himself looks like Loki, has vibes like Loki, so just know he probably possess the power that Loki does.

It truly blows my mind how thoughtful and observant he is. No matter who it is, whether it’s his family, friends, strangers, or his girlfriend. Your needs will never go unnoticed with him there.

He’s the kind that notices the quiet person in a room and tries to include them in the conversation.

To give you a small yet profound example when his kindness shined was the time he and his girlfriend were stopped by a street vendor selling incense sticks. The man was trying to celebrate his daughter’s first birthday, with a cake from a nearby bakery but they had refused to sell to him because of his appearance. He then offered them the 800 rupees he had managed to collect and asked them to buy a cake on his behalf. But Vinula refused the money, went the extra mile to buy a lovely cake with his own money, and gave the man some money for the bus.

This kindness by instinct runs in his blood.

What people admire Vinula most is that he’s never afraid to set boundaries. He draws very evident lines that no one should cross that line, work against him, or bring him down. Even if you try to peer pressure him into doing something like smoke a cigarette, you can never deter the man from breaking his commitments.

He’s incredibly resilient that’s him the perfect, dependable and resposnsible eldest child. If he has to handle something in a rush, he will calmly get that done without any hassle unlike most of us who need atleast 3-5 business days to panic first.  

The funniest but reasonable pet peeve he has is when people handle their laptops recklessly. It drives him crazy. He literally takes care of his own laptop like a baby. In fact, he calls it his baby.

It’s his girlfriend’s arch enemy. And that’s saying something because only after a week of him and his now-gf started seeing each other, she got a cold and forgot to get her meds but fear not, Vinula came with the entire pharmacy for her. So even though he gives ‘black cat energy’, he is an absolute sweetheart it seems.

If we were to stumble upon that version of him, he would be listening to “Ride It” by Jay Sean on repeat, breaking into a beat randomly, eating a brownie, and watching Mr and Mrs Smiths.

Another version of Vinula is when he is in his element, doing art. He’s an artist whose passion emits through his paintings and sketches, His biggest skill, however, is negotiation. He’s never lost a bet, a fact that his girlfriend is determined to change one day.

I mean he is not untouchable, like dude has no luck when it comes to swimming so you can do it girll!!

In a generation that chases instant gratification and pleasing people, Vinula runs a one man show of loyalty, courage, sacrifice, and devotion.

Savithmi’s ability to be the life of the party and anchor our fellowship perfectly complements Vinula’s strategic focus and rock-solid resilience will guarantee our club not only survives but absolutely thrives!
