As the world continue to move forward and people become increasingly connected across borders and cultures, it is only right that we take a moment to reflect on the diversity that this very movement brings about.
Recognising traditions of communities and understanding them is not only an act of respect but also a way of building meaningful connections that last beyond borders.
This was exactly what “Our Tribe Our Pride” was about, an interactive online session designed not only to showcase the cultural representations of different nations, but also to go a step further by appreciating the unique histories, traditions, and practices that shape each community.
The project was successfully conducted on 23rd November 2025 via Google Meet at 8.00 p.m. (IST), bringing together nearly 40 participants from all collaborating clubs.

Discovering India’s Tribal Heritage
The session began with the Rotaract Club of IEHE (RID 3040), India presented on the theme “Our Tribe Our Pride”. Their presentation offered participants a deeper understanding of the cultural identity, traditional practices and heritage of prominent indigenous communities in the Bhopal region, particularly the Gond and Korku tribes. The presentation explored their historical significance, unique lifestyles, and valuable contributions to India’s rich and diverse cultural landscape.
Journey Through Sri Lanka

Continuing on this cultural journey, the Rotaract Club of SLIIT took the participants across Sri Lanka, often referred to as the “Pearl of the Indian Ocean”, and “Island of Wonders.” The presentation explored the indigenous roots through the Veddas (Wanniyala-Aetto), offering a
glimpse into their lifestyles, beliefs and traditions. It also highlighted Sri Lanka’s broader cultural diversity including Sinhala, Tamil, and Burgher heritages. From iconic landmarks like Sigiriya Rock and the Temple of the Tooth to beloved dishes such as Rice & Curry, Hoppers, and Lamprais, the session highlighted the key elements of Sri Lanka’s cultural identity.
Experiencing Filipino Culture

Later in the session, the Rotaract Club of Manila Metro (RID 3810), Philippines, joined the collaboration to share the unique aspects of Filipino culture. Their presentation highlighted indigenous traditions, vibrant festivals, local cuisine, and community practices, offering
participants a deeper understanding of the Philippines’ cultural identity. This segment added another meaningful dimension to the cultural exchange, further enriching the overall experience for everyone present.
Sharing cultures is not just about exploring traditions rather it allows us to appreciate the heritage and stories that have carried them.
