Let’s Dance

Let’s Dance was a refreshing and energetic event organized under the Professional Development Avenue of the Rotaract Club of SLIIT, giving students a much needed break from assignments and busy schedules. The project was led by our chairs, Rtr. Sudharma and Rtr. Yeshan, who managed to pull off a successful event despite facing a major last-minute challenge having to change the instructor the night before.

The session began with an introduction by Rtr. Miyuni, setting a lively tone for the evening. Our guest instructor, K.K. Dulwan, a fellow SLIIT student known for his impressive moves and groove, immediately brought enthusiasm to the crowd. Since most participants were beginners, he started with the basics of hip-hop and made the learning process fun and easy to follow.

He then guided everyone through his own choreography for the song “Adare Hithenawa Dakkama” (new version), breaking down the steps in an engaging way. Soon, participants were confidently dancing along, and the excitement grew as they were grouped together to perform and record their routines.

One of the highlights of the event was a creative game similar to a whisper challenge, but using dance. Participants stood in lines, and the person at the back had to pass a set of dance moves forward without speaking. By the time it reached the person at the front, the final performance was often hilariously different from the original, making it a fun and memorable experience for everyone.

The event concluded with an official group photo, capturing the energy and joy shared throughout the session. Despite the initial obstacles, Let’s Dance turned out to be a great success, thanks to the efforts of Rtr. Sudharma, Rtr. Yeshan, Rtr. Miyuni, and K.K. Dulwan, giving students a chance to relax, connect, and enjoy something beyond their academic routine.
