Sahaya 360 – Phase 2 was a thoughtfully planned initiative carried out with the primary aim of supporting school students affected by the Ditwah cyclone, addressing both their academic and emotional needs during a difficult time. With the leadership of the Chairs of the project, Rtr. Thirani Wijesinghe, Rtr. Oneli Joachim, and Rtr. Chanudi Amaratunga, the project began with in-depth discussions among the Rotaract members, focusing on how best to assist students impacted by the cyclone.

As part of the initial phase, the team conducted research to identify schools with students who had been affected, selecting St. Paul’s Balika, Kelaniya as a key beneficiary. It became clear that many of these students were facing increased stress due to disrupted routines, academic pressure, and limited access to proper guidance following the cyclone.
With these insights, the organizing committee designed a structured program that combined educational value with interactive and engaging elements, ensuring the project would both support and uplift students beyond just material assistance.

The preparation phase required significant effort and coordination. Responsibilities were carefully divided among members, while continuous meetings both internal and with the sponsoring company ensured that every aspect of the project was well organized. Public relations materials, including posters designed by Rtr. Shagash, played a key role in creating awareness and maintaining a professional outlook for the initiative.
One of the most challenging aspects of the project was managing resources effectively. Selecting the right combination of books and stationery for different grade levels required careful planning, while budget adjustments, transportation, and packing logistics added further complexity.

A crucial factor in overcoming these challenges was the generous support of Zillione, who sponsored the stationery required for the project. Their contribution was instrumental, and without their support, the successful execution of Sahaya 360 – Phase 2 would not have been possible. Their partnership enabled the team to provide meaningful and well-prepared resources to the students who needed them most.
On the day prior to the event, the organizing committee dedicated their time to packing the students’ backpacks with precision and care. The effort was physically demanding, with members moving between multiple floors to transport and organize the completed bags. In total, 89 backpacks were prepared, each one representing a meaningful step in supporting students as they recover and move forward after the Ditwah cyclone.

Despite the challenges, the commitment, teamwork, and strong partnerships behind the project ensured its success. Sahaya 360 – Phase 2 stands as a testament to what can be achieved through careful planning, collaboration, and a shared purpose to uplift and support students affected by the Ditwah cyclone.
