The Board of Officials 2017-18

The Board of Directors for the upcoming year 2017-18 was officially appointed on the 1st of July, marking the turnover of a new leaf for the Rotaract club of SLIIT. We are so gratified as the board is enriched with experienced, talented, innovative and hardworking personnel. There’s no doubt that the board will work hard for the completion of projects successfully and to bring about significant change under the guidance of the newly appointed president.

Introducing the Board of Officials…

President- Rtr. Vinura Ganegoda

Vinura Ganegoda is a final year student of SLIIT Faculty of Computing, specializing in IT. He is a former student of D.S Senanayake College, Colombo 07 who’s well-known for his vibrant personality and leadership skills. He was an outstanding student at school who was appointed as the President of Environmental Society, Senior Executive for the year 2014-15, Secretary of GLOBE society, Assistant secretary of Leo Club, Co-editor of Interact club and Chief in committee; Red Cross circle. He is also a certified first aider at Sri Lanka Red Cross Society-Colombo Branch and has worked as a Project Coordinator at Sri Lanka Red Cross youth. Being a member of Rotaract club of SLIIT since 2014, he held the positions Director-Professional Development-2015-16 and Vice President-2016-17. He was also the project chairperson of “Team Alpha” leadership and outbound training camp which won the platinum award at the Rotaract District Assembly 2017. He likes to face challenges, to think out of the box and he is always there to guide, to motivate and to help everyone when needed. He believes that he has the best Board of Directors to work with and he mutters the phrase “I’m a lucky President” at least 10 times a day. He promises to work to the best of his abilities for the goodwill of people, club and the country as the President 2017-18.

IPP- Rtr. Kavinda Bandulasena

Presenting to you our Immediate Past President and the District Director of Digital Communication Rtr. Kavinda Bandulasena who possessed with remarkable leadership skills, is a graduate BSc. in Information Technology SLIIT and BSc. In Applied Sciences from University of Sri Jayewardenepura and currently employed as an IT consultant. He was a proud student of Ananda College and he was a team member in water polo, swimming and tennis. He captained the SLIIT swimming team and was the Vice-Captain of SLIIT tennis team. He was the Vice-President of RACSLIIT for the year 2015-16 and the Director of Sports and Recreation in 2014-15 prior to the presidency. He was the Chairperson of installation ceremonies of 2015, 2016 and he has contributed for countless number of projects from 2013-2017. As the IPP he is confident enough that the Rotaract Club of SLIIT will ‘Escape the Ordinary’ and be a significant club within the District 3220 Sri Lanka and Maldives during 2017-18 as the new faces in the club are the most dedicated and the passionate Rotaractors he has ever seen.

 

Vice president- Rtr. Sethil Muhandiram

sethil1Sethil is a third-year undergraduate of SLIIT Faculty of Computing, specializing in IT. He is a proud product of D.S Senanayake College, Colombo who was appointed as the Vice-President of Leo club, Secretary of young inventors & Literary Association, Senior Editor of the media circle and a Senior Committee Member of Aeronautical club, Road Safety Association and Interact club. He was a school prefect in the year 2014-15, a school cadet and was also awarded with School Colors in handball and karate. Also, he has worked as an instructor at Air-rifles Association. He is a realistic person who loves living a simple life listening to music, to make new friends and to travel. If travelling was free, and if we were lucky enough, we will get a chance to meet him once in our life. He is a member of RACSLIIT who has devoted 3 years to the club and he was the Director of Professional Development for the year 2016-17 and played a major role in organizing Team Alpha, a member of project drug prevention, care to share and chef hunt. He dedicates his sweat and strength towards the welfare of the club and promises to do his job well as the Vice-President.

 

Secretary- Rtr. Sandali Thiranagama

sandali1Sandali Thiranagama, a former student of Musaeus College, started her undergraduate life at SLIIT preparing herself for a career in Architecture. She captained the school netball team for the year 2013 and had been awarded with colors for netball for 7 consecutive years. Also, she was appointed as a junior prefect for the year 2008 and senior prefect for the year 2013/2014. She managed to get 9 As for her GCE O/L examination and also she got selected to University of Kelaniya for Physical sciences. She was honored in the “Deans List” twice within the first year. She was a Rotaractor since April 2016 and was an active member who took part of club work. She chaired a mojito stall as a fund-raising project for the project serve. Sandal is a friendly, pleasant girl who loves singing, drawing and painting and has a special talent to make people get pissed. Also she has an obsessive love for color blue and luckily is a vegetarian. She helps everyone with their duties and promises to do her job well as the Secretary of RACSLIIT.

 

Asst. Secretary- Rtr. Arundika Weerasekara

arundika1Arundika Weerasekara is a second-year student of SLIIT Faculty of Engineering who is a former student of Visakha Vidyalaya and Musaeus College. She was appointed as the President of the Photography club of Visakha Vidyalaya in the year 2013-14. She has a keen passion towards singing and love creativity especially fashion designing and architecture. As an active member of RACSLIIT she has done her job well during the past year. She has attended RCL, mojito stalls organized for the project serve 2016-17 and Bollywood night. She promises to do her best to meet the expectations that have been set for the club as the Assistant Secretary for the year 2017-18.

 

Asst. Secretary- Rtr. Dileka Hettikankanama

dilekaDileka, a first-year student of SLIIT Faculty of Engineering; is a talented former student of Musaeus College. She is a first-class girl guide and a senior guide. She is a good netball player and she has also widened her academic knowledge by following CIMA. She loves to fill up her belly with any yummy food, especially with creamy Pasta and mojito. She is a huge fan of Gotham, Flash, GoT and FRIENDS. She has actively participated in the past Rotaract events and is willing to work at her best for RACSLIIT.

 

Treasurer- Rtr. Gavindu Saranga

sarangaGavindu Saranga is a past student of Tangalle National School who is currently reading for a degree at SLIIT Faculty of Computing. He was a school prefect and a member of the students’ society. Since childhood, he loves playing cricket and he is a huge cricket fan who won’t miss any match. He is an active member of RACSLIIT who participated in each and every event of the club. He will do his level best to the club as he wants to make RACSLIIT the best club of the year.

 

Joint Treasurer– Rtr. Dhanushika Ranawaka

dhanushikaDhanushika Ranawaka is a second year BBA student of SLIIT Business Faculty. She was an outstanding student of Anula Vidyalaya and was loved by everyone for her charismatic personality. She has topped the batch with a GPA of 4.00 and was honored in the “Deans List” within the first year. She also has widened her academic knowledge by pursuing Charted professional qualification. Pizza makes her think that anything is possible and she wonders that it’s the reason behind her success. She’s willing to work hard and she promises to do her best for the welfare of the club as the Joint Treasurer 2017-18.

 

Sergeant at Arms– Rtr. Bhanuka Yapa

bhanukaBhanuka is a third-year student of SLIIT Faculty of computing who specializes in Interactive Multimedia. He is a former student of Badulla Central College and was appointed as a senior prefect of school. He is a talented basketball player and also good at playing chess. His favourite color is blue and is a huge GoT fan who loves Arya. He is an active member of RACSLIIT and has worked as the Editor for the year 2016-17 and he promises to work at his best in this year as well.

 

Co-Editor- Rtr. Dilini De Silva

diliniDilini is a fourth-year undergraduate of SLIIT Faculty of Computing who’s specializing in IT. She’s a past student of Visakha Vidyalaya and she has worked as the Vice Secretary of the photographic club and the Treasurer of junior health society. She is also a member of Sri Lanka Girl Guide Association. She loves swimming and she happens to be the tiniest one among Board members. She’s a die-hard fan of Harry Potter, FRIENDS and GoT cast and she’ll enjoy watching them more if she has some cheesecake and hot chocolate. She has actively participated in the projects organized by RACSLIIT since 2015 and she was appointed as the Director of Club Service during the term 2016-17. She has chaired the projects Walk with a hat 2.0, Feed a stray, Green it up and has co-chaired Chef Hunt which was successfully held at the Colombo Academy of Hospitality Management and was awarded with the Spirit of Service for the year 2016-17 at the 27th Rotaract District Assembly. She promises to do her responsibility to the best of her capabilities as the editor 2017-18.

 

Co-Editor- Rtr. Duleesha Waidyarathne

duleeshaDuleesha Waidyarathne is a first-year BBA student of SLIIT Faculty of Business. She was an outstanding student of Anula Vidyalaya and Mahamathya Vidyalaya who engaged in lots of extracurricular activities. She was appointed as a senior prefect and was the House vice-captain, the netball captain in the year 2011-12 and was an active member of the Science society and English literary association. Apart from those positions held at school she has won Divisional Level awards for recitation and Zonal Level awards for creative writing and singing. She has also widened her academic qualifications by pursuing CIMA professional qualification. Her heart melts for puppies. She can eat anything, especially pizza without gaining a single ounce. Duleesha is new to the Rotaract family and she’s expecting to gain experience by doing her best for the welfare of RACSLIIT.

 

Director -Professional Development- Rtr. Chanura Shehan

chanuraChanura is a second-year student who is specializing in IT at SLIIT Faculty of Computing. He was a past student of Royal College, Polonnaruwa who was appointed as the President of Science society, English Literary Association, Sinhala Literature Association, as a prefect and he was the leader of the English Debate team as well. He is an energetic, ambitious person who has developed a mature and a responsible approach to any task that he undertakes. He is always there to help others and that has become his passion eventually. He is determined to do his responsibility as the Director of Professional Development to the best as he can.

 

Director -Professional Development- Rtr. Chamini Ellawala

chaminiChamini, a third-year student of SLIIT specializing in cyber security is a talented past student of Viharamahadevi Balika Vidyalaya, Kiribathgoda. She was a skilled member of school chess team and also has been appointed as a senior prefect. As an active member of RACSLIIT she has done her service to the club by participating for the projects easy IT, Chef Hunt and one can heal another 3.0. She is a bookworm and she is a girl who enjoys music a lot. She has her unique set of songs in her phone and no one is allowed to listen to them. She is a pleasant girl who always wears a smile and she is willing to work to the best of her abilities for the welfare of the club.

 

Director- Community Service- Rtr. Ashane Edirisinghe

ashaneAshane is a former student of St. Aloysius College, Galle who is currently a second-year student of SLIIT Faculty of Computing. He has completed CIMA certificate level, FCHRM, CCHRM and also got selected for Jayawardenepura University for Physical science. Apart from studies, he is a member of Science society, English unit and a talented basketball player. He enjoys playing chess, singing and swimming. He was a member of RACSLIIT since 2016 and he has co-chaired the project One Hand Can Heal Another 3.0. He loves to get a self-satisfaction by completing his responsibility as best as he can.

 

Director- Community Service- Rtr. Umanga De Silva

umangaUmanga is a third-year student of SLIIT Faculty of Computing, specializing in IT. She has done her secondary education at Anuradhapura Central College. She has a keen passion towards dancing and drawing since childhood. She is an actively participating member of RACSLIIT and has given her contribution for project One Hand Can Heal Another, Chef Hunt and many other projects. She is a sweet, charming and a bit silent character who is dedicated to work.

 

Director- Club Service- Rtr. Surath Gunawardena

surathSurath Gunawardena, a former student of Mahinda College, Galle is a second-year undergraduate of SLIIT Faculty of Computing. He was a member of school Basketball team, web team and Science society. He is a diploma holder in English at British way English academy and a certificate holder of java programming. He was a top performer of ESOFT Dev challenge 2017. He is also a member of IEEE student branch and a member of FOSS community at SLIIT. As a Rotaractor since 2016, he has helped in organizing many projects such as one can heal another 3.0. He is a person who loves to be surrounded by happy memories. He promises to do his best as the Director of Club Service.

 

Director- Club Service- Rtr. Chamika Nirmani

chamika.jpgChamika Nirmani is a third-year undergraduate of SLIIT Faculty of computing. She is a former student of Sujatha Vidyalaya, Matara who showed outstanding performances. She has won the distinct and credit passes of Australian Chemistry quiz conducted by the Royal Australian Chemistry Institute in the years 2010 and 2012 respectively. She is a pleasant and kind character who is loved by everyone. She looks forward to do her best for the Rotaract club of SLIIT as the Director of Club Service for the year 2017-18.

 

Director- International Services- Rtr. Janitha Jayakodi

janithaJanitha is a third-year undergraduate of SLIIT Faculty of Business, specializing in Management Information Systems. He is a multitalented former student of Mahanama College who is equally talented in writing, drawing, lyrics writing, singing, playing cricket and badminton. He is currently handling finance in the projects YSF and NLDS which are the two biggest AIESEC national events in Sri Lanka. By being a Board member of four clubs including Rotaract and AIESEC, he contributes in organizing almost all the events of SLIIT starting from the Freshers day. He is also a former member of FBSC. He has showed his colors performing onstage at SLIIT Got Talent, Lantharuma and Ganthera. He promises to do his responsibility to the best of his abilities as the Director of International services for the year 2017-18.

 

Director- IT: Branding and Promotion- Rtr. Rajitha Shavinda

20400942_1479254788798963_988329275_nRajitha is a third-year undergraduate of SLIIT Faculty of Computing and an outstanding former student of De Mazenond College, Kandana. He was appointed as the President of the Religion club and the Vice-President of IT club during the period 2012-13. He is also a diploma holder in English and computing and has a keen passion towards graphic designing and programming. He is a guy who likes watching movies, and TV series like Supernatural, Grimm and Flash. He has been an active member of RACSLIIT since 2016 and has assisted many projects in IT side. He promises to do his job to the best of his abilities as the Director of IT 2017-18.

 

Director- IT: Online Communication- Rtr. Shenuka Ranawaka

shenukaShenuka is a second-year undergraduate of SLIIT Faculty of Computing who’s specializing in Software Engineering. He’s a former student of Maris Stella College and Sussex College. He is a badminton semifinalist of Gampaha District. He’s also good at football and athletics. He was appointed as a Senior Prefect at Sussex College. He’s a person who likes things based on adventures and excitements. He has actively participated in many projects organized by RACSLIIT and looks forward to serving the club and to do his responsibility as an IT Director.

 

Director- IT: Audio and video production- Rtr. Chameera Ranasinghe

chameeraChameera is a student of SLIIT Faculty of Computing and is a former student of Central College, Kirindiwela. He was appointed as a Senior Prefect and was a member of school cricket team, football team and relay team. Also he has won the 3rd place in the club chess competition, Gampaha District. He has a keen passion towards drawing, script writing, programming, 3D animation, visual effects, graphic designing, video editing and directing. He’s a positive thinker and an open-minded person. He is in a relationship with Italian cars since he was born only because the other cars are heavy. He is very proud and happy to be a member of the Rotaract family.

 

Director-Public Relations– Rtr. Navindu Chamara

navinduNavindu is a past student of Mahanama College who’s currently reading for a degree at SLIIT Faculty of Computing, third year. He is an active member of RACSLIIT and has contributed for several projects such as easy IT and One Hand Can Heal another 3.0. He is a good swimmer and he plays the guitar at his leisure times. He loves to read, draw and obsessed with the TV series FRIENDS and How I met your mother. He is hoping to make a difference in the community and to be committed to uplift the club as the Director of Public Relations for the year 2017-18.

 

Media Coordinator– Rtr. Virajith Nanayakkara

virajithVirajith is a third-year undergraduate of SLIIT Computer Faculty, specializing in Information Technology. He was a proud product of St. Aloysius College, Rathnapura who was appointed as the President of Photography club, Vice-President of media club and Secretary of IT club. He’s the chief executive of KV labs photography and also known as the man behind the camera. He is an active member of RACSLIIT who has contributed to many projects and he promise to work with his optimum ability as the Media Coordinator 2017-18.

 

We would like to express our heartiest gratitude to Rtr. IPP. Kavinda Bandulasena and his board to the immense service done for the Rotaract Club of SLIIT during the year 2016-17. Congratulations to the newly appointed Board of Directors and wishes the best to ‘Escape the ordinary’!
