Christmas is about creating happy memories that will last a lifetime. It’s a season of giving and the spirit of Christmas is to be shared among all, which is why Rotaract Club of SLIIT visited Sneha Child Development Center on Christmas Eve to create a wonderful Christmas atmosphere and to add Christmas spirit with some interactive sessions.
On the 24th of December 2017 we visited Sneha child development center to give the “Christmas Treat” that they never had. It was quite a heart-warming experience. Sneha is home to 14 little kids from the age of 2 to 5 years. Our arrival was greeted by all of the little children and they looked so happy when they saw us. The woman in charge informed us about the rules and regulation that everyone should follow. We were not supposed to click close-up photos of the children.
We had brought food with us and care-takers helped with preparing and serving evening tea. We segregated ourselves and went to talk individually to every kid, which created a good atmosphere for Rotaractors and kids to mingle.
Afterwards, we had a small musical session. One of our fellow Rotaractors played a guitar and we sang with the kids. Then we started playing outdoor games with them. The kids were full of energy. We had a lot of fun and the children enjoyed themselves very well. These children showed a lot of generosity, sharing, caring and love towards one another and everyone around them. We wished we could spend as much time with them as possible.
Soon, it was time for us to leave. We had brought with us 14 gift packs including drawing books, crayons, Small teddy bears, etc. which we distributed amongst the children. We also donated stationary items for their pre-school.
Everyone had a great time and the project was a success. Visiting the orphanage was a life changing experience. We start appreciating the little things in life when we see people who don’t have them.
