පාலm

Project පාலm was organized by the Rotaract District 3220 along with the Rotaract Clubs of Achievers Lanka Business School, CFPS Law School, Chunnakam, Jaffna Peninsula and Wattala to promote Peace and Reconciliation through religious harmony. The project was held on the 13th of February 2018 and it was a great opportunity to know about each religion. The project was conducted under the focus area of Peace and Reconciliation. On behalf of our club Rtr. Zalmay, Rtr. Hiruni, Rtr. Nethmi and Rtr. Sanju attended the event.

First we visited St. Paul’s Church on Kynsey Road, Colombo. We gathered knowledge on the basic preaching of Jesus Christ. The Father also explained us about the architecture of the Church and how it relates to other religions; i.e. candles are used in church and oil lamps are used in Temples.

Our next visit was to Dewatagaha Jumma Mosque. We were welcomed by the smell of incense and our eyes drew towards the architecture on how it differed from the Church. The Mawlawi explained about Prophet Muhammad’s (PBUH) lifestyle and how he won the hearts’ of the people. He even told us a story where the Prophet had let an enemy of his to spend the night at his house since it was too dangerous to travel at night.

This was a great opportunity to build stronger relationships on other religions and treat each other equally and to give a full stop to racism.
