The Board of Directors for the year 2018-19 was officially appointed on the 1st of July, marking the dawn of a new era for the Rotaract club of SLIIT. The board is enriched with experienced, talented, innovative and hardworking personnel who’d do anything to bring the club to greater heights. There’s no doubt that the board of officials will work hard to bring about significant change under the guidance of the newly appointed president.
Introducing the Board of Officials…
President- Rtr. Sethil Muhandiram
Sethil is a final-year undergraduate of SLIIT Faculty of Computing, specializing on IT. He is a proud product of D.S Senanayake College who was appointed as the Vice-President of Leo club, Secretary of young inventors & Literary Association, Senior Editor of the media circle and a Senior Committee Member of Aeronautical club, Road Safety Association and Interact club. He was a school prefect in the year 2014-15, a school cadet and was also awarded with school colors in handball and karate. Also, he has worked as an instructor at Air-rifles Association. He is a realistic person who loves living a simple life listening to music, to make new friends and to travel. If travelling was free, and if we were lucky enough, we will get a chance to meet him once in our life. He is an active member of RACSLIIT who has devoted 3 years of his life to the club and he was appointed as the Director- Professional Development 2016-17 and as the Vice president 2017-18. He dedicates his sweat and strength towards the welfare of the club and promises to bring the club for greater heights by doing his job well as the President for the year 2018-19.
IPP- Rtr. Vinura Ganegoda
Presenting to you our Immediate Past President Vinura Ganegoda who is a graduate in BSc. IT, is a former student of D.S Senanayake College who’s well-known for his vibrant personality and leadership skills. He was an outstanding student at school who was appointed as the President of Environmental Society, Senior Executive for the year 2014-15, Secretary of GLOBE society, Assistant secretary of Leo Club, Co-editor of Interact club and Chief in committee; Red Cross circle. He is also a certified first aider at Sri Lanka Red Cross Society-Colombo Branch and has worked as a Project Coordinator at Sri Lanka Red Cross youth. Being a member of Rotaract club of SLIIT since 2014, he held the positions Director-Professional Development 2015-16, Vice President 2016-17 and President 2017-18. He was also the project chairperson of “Team Alpha” leadership and outbound training camp which won the platinum award at the Rotaract District Assembly 2017. He likes to face challenges, to think out of the box and he is always there to guide, to motivate and to help everyone when needed. As the IPP he is confident enough that the Rotaract Club of SLIIT will ‘Make it Happen, Make it Matter”’ and be a significant club within the District 3220 Sri Lanka and Maldives during 2018-19 as the new faces in the club are the most dedicated and the passionate Rotaractors he has ever seen.
VP: Strategic partnerships- Rtr. Gavindu Saranga
The Vice President-Stratergic Partnerships of the club for the year 2018-19 is Rtr. Gavindu Saranga who is an undergraduate in Bsc. IT. It has been three years since he has joined Rotaract. Being a student of the National school of Tangalle, he was a school prefect, a member of the students’ society and also appointed as a school prefect. The sole reason of him to join Rotaract was he wanted to help people those who are in need and to make the world a better place. His explanations are the best to listen to as he could paint a quite nice picture. It is so hard for him to be serious but when it comes to his duties, he always gives his fullest commitment. He will be the Vice President- Strategic partnerships for the year 2018-19 and looking forward to work hard in order to bring the club to greater heights.
VP: Service Avenues- Rtr. Duleesha Waidyarathne
Duleesha Waidyarathne is a second year undergraduate of the Faculty of Business and is a former student of Anula Vidyalaya. She has distinguished herself from her peers by engaging in a wide variety of extracurricular activities such as athletics, captaining the school netball team, being an active member of the Science Society, and a coordinator of the English Literary Association. She further cultivated her skills by pursuing CIMA and also was honored in the Dean’s list for her excellent academic performance. She spends what remains of her free time to watch TV series and to help out her friends. She also loves puppies. Within the two years of her time at Rotaract she has demonstrated her ability to improvise under rapidly changing circumstances, as well as her ability to provide a good ear for numerous friends. She was appointed as the Co-editor of the club for the term 2017-18 and has taken up the position of Vice President-service avenues.
VP: Finance – Rtr. Dhanushika Ranawaka
Dhanushika Ranawaka is a third year undergraduate of the Faculty of Business. She is an excellent communicator and has the skill to make split seconds in high pressure situations. In her time at school, Anula Vidyalaya; she got involved in various clubs and societies such as, Commerce Society, Literary Association, and the Buddhist Cultural Society and also was appointed as a junior prefect. Following her school education, she managed to do well in her higher level education at the university as well by being the batch top of her class for the first two years and being honored in the Dean’s list. She spends her free time shopping and binge watching TV series. Additionally she has Diploma in Information Technology awarded by ESOFT. She has been an active member for one and a half years, was the Treasurer 2017-18 and has taken up the post of Vice President-Finance for the term 2018-19.
Secretary- Rtr. Parami Paranavitana
Parami, also known as “Bhavantha” has been a member of the Rotaract family for two years and she is currently a second-year undergraduate of the Faculty of Business. Having perfectly shaped communicating skills, she is very much sociable. She is a former student of Musaeus College and has represented the school’s National Tennis Team and she has started playing tennis when she was just 8 years old. For being a really good tennis player, the very odd thing is that she can’t swim. Parami is a passionate traveler and is against hurting animals. As pretty as she is, and with the fact that she doesn’t eat carrot, you can always find her getting teased by other members of the board always. If you find these bunch of people laughing so loud, it probably could involve her. Despite those facts, she is a really good person, who can get something done fast and right and she will be the Secretary of the club for the term 2018-19.
Assistant Secretary- Rtr. Vinuri Ramanayake
Vinuri Ramanayake, who is appointed as the Assistant Secretary for the year 2018-19 is a second-year undergraduate of the Faculty of Engineering. Being a proud past student of Visakha Vidyalaya, she has been a member of the prefects’ guild, deputy leader of the senior eastern band, president guide as well as a member of the school orchestra in 2009. She has an inborn talent for dancing and acting where she has been the main role; Anne, of the teledrama telecast back in 2007. A weird thing about her is that she is not at all a big fan of chocolate and desserts. Apart from that, she loves watching movies; rather TV series and is against hurting animals. All in all, she promises to give her best for the club.
Sergeant at arms- Rtr. Pasindu Menuka Sannasuriya
Pasindu Menuka Sannasuriya is a final year undergraduate of the Faculty of Computing and a former student of Vidyaraja College. He was appointed as the school head prefect in the year 2014 due to his vibrant personality and leadership skills. Pasindu is a talented graphic and UI designer as well as a web developer. On one hand he likes to play and hangout with friends and watch movies where he dislikes cats on the other. If your mobile phone suddenly vanishes, you may find it in his pockets. For the past two years, he has been a part of the Rotaract family and will be the Sergeant at arms for the term 2018-19.
Treasurer- Rtr. Tharoon Madusanka
Tharoon Madusanka is the Treasurer of the club for the term 2018-19 who is an undergraduate of the Faculty of Engineering in his third year. It has been two years since he has joined Rotaract and he loves particularly arts and music. He was a student of D.S. Senanayake College and was in the quiz league of the school and also was appointed as the Treasurer of DS THEEWRA. He has completed chartered in IT of British Computer Society. He’s a good swimmer and has awarded colors at SLIIT colors night. There had been a time where he had hated dogs and loved cats. He hates answering and taking calls but he is committed to his work given. He’s willing to work hard and promises to do his best for the welfare of the club as the Treasurer 2018-19.
Co-editor- Rtr. Lihini Rajapaksha
Lihini, a second year undergraduate of the Faculty of Engineering with a skill set of drawing, writting as well as keeping secrets; has been a Rotaract for over 6 months. She is also a proud product of Visakha Vidyalaya and was awarded best hand writer in the zone. She was also given the opportunity to be a Senior prefect and a member of Astronomical Society. Lihini also dislikes string hoppers and a few interesting facts about her is; she loves to read, sing and be creative. She’s happy to be a part of the Rotaract family and looking forward to work as the Co- editor for the term 2018-19.
Co-Editor – Rtr. Tharindhie Alles
Tharindhie is a past pupil of Bishop’s College Colombo and is currently pursuing her third year specializing in Management Information systems at SLIIT. During her school time, she was a member of the IT Club, Science Club, and Interact Club alongside complementing her sports, which included Hockey, Netball, Basketball and Athletics. She was also the House Captain, House Games Captain and Basketball Captain during this time. With regard to university level, she is a member of the LEO club, AIESEC, Netball and Basketball, while also being given the opportunity to be a part of the Sports Council as Secretary (2017/2018), Basketball Captain (2018/2019) and Netball Vice-Captain (2018/2019). Tharindhie has also completed a foundation course in HRM, diploma in child and educational psychology and is also pursuing a HND in Business. She has undertaken the opportunity to utilize her skills learnt to further complement the purpose of the Rotaract Club working as the Co-editor for the term 2018-19.
Director PR- Rtr. Shalini Jayasooriya
Shalini a third-year business undergraduate, has been a Rotaractor from the beginning of this year and has aimed to helping out in every way possible. She’s a dedicated individual who mentioned that her biggest strength is having a supportive and inspiring family. While being both empathetic and excellent in communication, she reviewed her primary education at Vidura College (2002-2012) and Visakha Vidyalaya (2012-2015). She was also a college prefect, captained the Netball team and was also the secretary of the English Literary Association. Shalini was also a member of the Girl Guides, environment club, college brass band, a chief English announcer and also played the tenor saxophone. As for what we don’t know about her, she apparently has an imaginary butler named Arthur who is currently MIA, this being the reason she’s disclosing this, hoping he will see this and come backD. She also likes to listen to music, read, watch random uplifting videos, listen to stories others have to share stranger or friend and looks at anything related to snakes. Apart from all this, she has also completed her chartered accountancy- executive level. She aims to utilize all her abilities and skills to further enhance the club as the PR director for the term 2018-19, while making new friends.
Director Com. Service – Rtr. Haridhakshan Sivaharan
Being a second year student in the Faculty of Business, Haridhakshan has been an active Rotaractor ever since he joined. With the aim of serving the community he joined Rotaract and volunteered at light up their world; a signature community project done by the Rotaract Club of SLIIT. As far as his achievements go, he is a FOB committee member for this year and has been the past chairman of the Royal College Tamil Literary Association, past editor of Hindu students’ Union, past Senior Committee Member of the Tamil Drama Society as well as a junior steward in the year 2014. Some rather interesting facts about Haridhakshan would be that he is a chatter box once he gets comfortable and loves to annoy others alongside never ever tasted tea or coffee. He’s happy to be a part of the Rotaract family and looking forward to work as the Community Service director for the term 2018-19.
Director Professional Development- Rtr. Anne Thanya Mendis
Anne Mendis is a 3rd year undergraduate of the Faculty of Business. She is very talented and creative when it comes to artistic hobbies such as drawing, and her friendliness combined with her natural charm gives her a set of strong communicative skills. In America she attended the Floral Park Memorial High School and became distinguished member of the school by receiving awards such as AP scholar, and the High Honor Roll Award. She was also a member of numerous clubs such as the Art Club where she polished off her drawing skills, as well as the Student Council and the Science Research club where she developed her analytical skills. She likes to spend her free time by meeting new people and she has a moderate amount of disdain for people with an immature attitude. She will be the Professional Development Director for the term 2018-19.
Director Community Service- Rtr. Thusara Wijesuriya
Thusara is a third-year undergraduate from the Faculty of Business and has been in the SLIIT Rotaract Club for over 8 months. He had served his Alma mater well and continues to do so; was appointed Deputy Head Prefect at school while also being a House captain, and also represented the school badminton team up untill Division A. Even with regards to keeping a balance on life- he was given the opportunity to be a delegate at the Colombo Model United Nations and is also the Faculty of Business Students’ Community Secretary for the year 2018/2019. Thusara, a vibrant personality indeed, loves to play badminton, travel, and sightseeing among any others. Thusara is looking forward to serve the Community as the Com. Service director for the term 2018-19.
Director International Services – Rtr. Priyanka Pathmanathan
Priyanka Pathamanathan is a former student of Methodist College and currently a second year undergraduate of the Faculty of Business who is known to be punctual, honest and responsible. She was appointed as the Vice President of the Hindu Union and has participated in drama competitions back in school. In addition to that she was a girl guide and a member of the Sri Lanka Unites. She says that she is secretive but she loves sleeping, traveling, dancing and apparently smiling at strangers. She hates being at one place for a long time and talking or messaging with people over the phone for hours. It has been 6 months since she has joined the club and she will be the International Service Director for the year 2018-19.
Director IT- Rtr. Senith Ranchagoda
Senith Ranchagoda is a proud product of D.S Senanayake College and is a 3rd year undergraduate of SLIIT Faculty of Engineering. He was appointed as the Assistant Treasurer of the Astronomical & Space Science Society, Photographic Society, has captained the school quiz team, Aeronautical Society and was the Co-Head of Design of Advertising and Social media at DS Theewraa. Apart from those positions held at school, he is good at sports especially at tennis and swimming. Also he is so keen in making electrical and electronic stuff and will spend hours with those gadgets. His friends say that he didn’t like to eat with a bunch of people as well as he doesn’t eat from the places below 5 stars. Apart from the fact that he likes to hang out a lot, he used to be pretty much shy and can’t stay at one place for long. It has been two years since he has joined Rotaract and he will be the IT director for the year 2018-19.
Director IT- Rtr. Rajitha Shavinda
Rajitha is a fourth-year undergraduate of SLIIT Faculty of Computing and is an outstanding former student of De Mazenond College, Kandana. He was appointed as the President of the religion club and the Vice-President of IT club during the period 2012-13. He is also a diploma holder in English and computing and has a keen passion towards graphic designing and programming. He is a guy who likes watching movies, and TV series like supernatural, grimm and flash. He is an active member of RACSLIIT since 2016; was appointed as the IT director in the term 2017-18 and has assisted many projects in IT side. He promises to do his job to the best of his abilities as the Director of IT 2018-19.
Director Club Services- Rtr. Fulail Thaha
Fulail Thaha is a first-year undergraduate in the Faculty of Hospitality Management and is a former student of Wesley College Colombo. He has been in the interact club and is keen at sports. Public speaking is what he is really good at and when it comes to sleeping, he can sleep in a meeting without being noticed where he has won the title “Mr. Hibernation”. He is happy to be a part of the Rotaract family and looking forward to provide his service to the club as the Director Club service 2018-19.
Director sports – Rtr. Dayan Kanchana
Dayan Kanchana, a second year undergraduate of the Faculty of Business is a known personality for being flexible, honest, patient, responsible and trustworthy. He was appointed as a senior prefect, House captain, Secretary of the Leo Club and as the treasurer of the drug prevention unit of his very own school, D.S.Senanayake College. Apart from those positions held at school, he has done athletics and cricket. He loves doing what makes him happy where he hates to hurt anyone else or himself. It has been a year since he has joined Rotaract and he will be the Sports Director for the year 2018-19.
Coordinator com. services- Rtr. Menuka Vidanage
Menuka Vidanage is a third-year undergraduate of the Faculty of Engineering and is a former student of Nalanda College. He is really good at team work, problem solving and loves photography and to organize stuff. He has done many sports at school and was an active member in several societies including SLMUN 2014. He is a quiet, shy person until things around gets comfortable. On the other hand, he hates animal abuse and long drives alone. He has been a passionate Rotaractor ever since he joined RACSLIIT and is the coordinator of Com Services for the year 2018-19.
Coordinator Public Relations- Rtr. Sheque Azeem
Sheque Azeem is a first year undergraduate of the Faculty of Computing. He studied at Zahira College and has won the interschool e-Sport in COD4 title. He has completed a diploma in IT, desktop publishing and graphic designing. He likes gaming, graphic designing, music producing and DJ mixing. He is a huge fan of Christina Plate and loves talking but not texting. He is the Coordinator of Public Relations for the year 2018-19 and is willing give his best to meet the expectations that has been set by the club.
Coordinator Professional Development- Rtr. Harrun Prasadh
The Coordinator of Professional Development for the year 2018-19 is Harrun Prasadh Gunasekaran who is a second year undergraduate of the Faculty of Business. He was an active member of the Commerce Association of the Highlands College and loves in doing adventurous things. He is from Hatton and for a reason he’s so cool as just as his home town. He has been a passionate Rotaractor ever since he joined and has actively participated in the club events. The reason he joined Rotaract was to serve the community and to improve his leadership skills and he promises to give his maximum effort towards the welfare of the club.
Coordinator Professional Development – Rtr. Asjad Rahuman
Asjad is a Second year undergraduate of the Faculty of Business and is a former student of St. Aloysius’ College, Galle. This individual is known to be good in sports and communication. He was the secretary of the photographic society and has won the second place in creative writing at the Zonal English Day competitions and is an announcer in the English Society. He is a singer, developer in web engineering and likes volunteering, surfing and tripping; but doesn’t like to watch tragedies. It has been a year since he has joined Rotaract and now he is the PD coordinator for the year 2018-19.
Coordinator Club Services- Rtr. Aqeel Mohideen
The Club Service Coordinator for the year 2018-19 is Aqeel Mohideen who is a first year undergraduate of the Faculty of Computing. He is possessed with many skills and strengths in various fields and is a former student of Wesley College. He was an Interactor and was the Assistant Secretary of the Rotaract club of SLIIT for the term 2017-18. If there’s anything in the world that he’d do with commitment, that would be eating and sleeping. He is a hard working individual and promises to give his maximum commitment to the Club.
