It is still a new book of 365 pages of which the people are unaware of what will the future hold for us and what will remain to write in our book. New Year is a period that brings happiness, prosperity, and new hopes. The environment itself marks the freshness of this new beginning. However, the New Year of 2022 is significant in our lives as it is a year in which everyone hopes for a better future, a better country free of corruption. The economic, political, and social status of the country has depreciated. The queues vividly reflect the struggles of the common man who is still striving hard to survive. However, with the costs of goods and services living has indeed become a challenge irrespective of the social class of people. The prices are skyrocketing and people are traumatized in all aspects, thus this frustration is the reason for all the protests which are going on across the country. It is a sorry sight to witness the disappointed faces of people everywhere. The happiness and the glamour of the New Year cannot be seen this time. No crackers, no luscious food on tables, no new clothes, and no proper mindset to embrace the warmth of New Year. 

The New Year resolutions are dissolved in the queues. The man who does not have money sighs at the man who tries to showcase his luxuries. This is a common sight these days. Not only these days but also this is the usual way of people. However, during a period of economic crisis, people who can afford should not showcase the comforts they enjoy because it will suppress and depress the people who do not have them. New Year is not the same for everyone. There can be people who do not have anything to eat, while you have numerous food items and delicious meals to enjoy. 

Sri- Lankan economic disparity should be reduced because according to the statistics more than half of the total household income of the country is enjoyed by the richest. Thus, by bridging this gap the country will be able to transform into a better, stable economic status. The economy plays a vital role in a country. An unstable economy can lead to many negative effects such as unemployment, economic recession, and societal collapse. Simply, the economy is the backbone of any country. Therefore, without having a strong, powerful economic status a country can’t progress. Currently, Sri Lanka’s economic status is at a risk. It is inconsistent. The value of the Sri-Lankan rupee has depreciated and these fluctuations will soon result in an economic recession. 

Hence, as the future generation, we have been burdened with a lot of duties and responsibilities towards the country.   First, the economy should be recovered as it is the major component that provides an income for the country to sustain. The next step should be the appointment of potential leaders to achieve the sustainable development of the country. There is no future for the country with impotent leaders. Therefore, leaders should be farsighted, intellectual, and powerful to make strong decisions to take the country out of the economic and political morass in which we are caught up. This is the wish of everybody for the New Year 2022 and striving each nerve to accomplish the goal.

සංඛ්‍යාලේඛන වලට අනුව ශ්‍රීලංකාවේ ආදයමෙන් අඩකට වඩා භුක්ති විඳිනු ලබන්නේ ධනපතියන් විසිනි. මෙම ආර්ථික අසමතුලිතතාවය වෙනස් විය යුතුමය. නැතහොත් මෙයින් රට දරුණු විරැකියා, ආර්ථික සහ සමාජීය ඇදවැටීම් වලට ලක් විය හැක. රටක ආර්ථිකය ⁣රටේ ස්ථාවරත්වය තීරණය කරයි නමුදු අද වන විට ලංකවේ ආර්ථිකය අතිශය ලෙස දුර්වල වී ඇත. රුපියල සිතුසේ පාවී යයි. 

ඉතින් රටේ ඉදිරි පරපුර වශයෙන් අපට රට වෙනුවෙන් ඉටුකිරීමට යුතුකම් රැසක් ඇත. පලමුව කඩාවැටී ඇති ආර්ථිකය ගොඩගත යුතුය. දෙවනුව රටට වැඩක් කල හැකි නායකයින් පත් කල යුතුය. බුද්ධිමත් නායකත්වයකින් තොර පාලනයකින් රටක් ගොඩ නැගිය නොහැක.
