The Great Blue was an initiative organized by the Community Services Avenue of  Rotaract Club of SLIIT, and is a subsidiary of the project Rethink Trash Phase 2. Since 2021, The Great Blue Project has been a goal to focus on marine pollution and the environment, uplifting the coastal areas of our motherland, and making a difference. 

The project commenced on the 6th of August to the 24th of September 2022, where a group of our enthusiastic Rotaractors participated in a team with a focused goal: to enrich and restore the great blue. The project was carried out at the Sri Lankan Coastguard Post in Dehiwala and began to collect waste materials on the coastline. 

Furthermore, the Coastguard Post was an excellent spot; initiatives have already been set up and maintained bins on the beach. There is still a massive quantity of plastic and debris washed to the seaside from the sea. Nevertheless, the Great Blue team managed to collect 16 bags of plastic, polythene, and paper and then were handed over to a local waste management recycling center, ‘Ecofriends’ in Colombo. 

The volunteers were extremely passionate about the beach cleanup and volunteered to assist in cleaning the beach and collecting plastic bottles for recycling. The project team managed to inform the group of all ages about the damage done to the environment by excessive and careless use of plastic, how observable behaviors contribute to the problem, and how to relieve it. Fun games, an after-lunch meal, and dances made the project memorable and successful.  

The project phase was finally finished, with a clear mindset for the greater good of the ocean. We would like to thank the members of the SLIIT Rotaract Club for their contributions to the project’s success.

The Great Blue යනු SLIIT රොටරැක්ට්  සමාජයේ හි ප්‍රජා සේවා ඒකකය විසින් සංවිධානය කරන ලද මුලපිරීමක් වන අතර එය Rethink Trash Phase 2 ව්‍යාපෘතියේ අනුබද්ධිත ව්‍යාපෘතියකි. 2021 වසරේ සිට The Great Blue ව්‍යාපෘතිය සමුද්‍ර දූෂණය සහ පරිසරය කෙරෙහි අවධානය යොමු කිරීමේ ඉලක්කයෙන් අපේ මාතෘභූමියේ වෙරළබඩ ප්‍රදේශ නඟාසිටුවමින්, වෙනසක් ඇති කිරීම අරමුණයි.

මෙම ව්‍යාපෘතිය 2022 අගෝස්තු 6 සිට සැප්තැම්බර් 24 දක්වා පැවති වූ අතර, එහිදී අපගේ උද්යෝගිමත් රොටරැක්ට් කණ්ඩායම නිසි ඉලක්කයක් සහිතව  සහභාගී විය එනම් නිල් පැහැය පොහොසත් කිරීම සහ ප්‍රතිෂ්ඨාපනය කිරීමයි.  මෙම ව්‍යාපෘතිය දෙහිවල ශ්‍රී ලංකා වෙරළාරක්ෂක මුරපොලේදී සිදු කරන ලද අතර වෙරළ තීරයේ අපද්‍රව්‍ය එකතු කිරීම ආරම්භ කරන ලදී.

තවද, වෙරළාරක්ෂක මුරපොළ විශිෂ්ට ස්ථානයක් විය,  මුල පිරීමක් ලෙසට එහි දැනටමත් වෙරළේ බඳුන් පිහිටුවා නඩත්තු කර ඇත.  මුහුදේ සිට මුහුදු වෙරළට සේදී ගිය ප්ලාස්ටික් සහ සුන්බුන් විශාල ප්‍රමාණයක් තවමත් පවතී.  කෙසේ වෙතත්, The Great Blue කණ්ඩායම විසින් ප්ලාස්ටික්, පොලිතින් සහ කඩදාසි බෑග් 16 ක් එකතු කිරීමට සමත් වූ අතර, පසුව කොළඹ පිහිටි ප්‍රාදේශීය අපද්‍රව්‍ය කළමනාකරණ ප්‍රතිචක්‍රීකරණ මධ්‍යස්ථානයක් වන ‘Ecofriends’ වෙත භාර දෙන ලදී.

ස්වේච්ඡා සේවකයන් වෙරළ පිරිසිදු කිරීම සඳහා අතිශයින් උනන්දු වූ අතර වෙරළ පිරිසිදු කිරීමට සහ ප්‍රතිචක්රීකරණය සඳහා ප්ලාස්ටික් බෝතල් එකතු කිරීමට ස්වේච්ඡාවෙන් ඉදිරිපත් විය.  අධික ලෙස හා නොසැලකිලිමත් ලෙස ප්ලාස්ටික් භාවිතයෙන් පරිසරයට සිදුවන හානිය, නිරීක්ෂණය කළ හැකි හැසිරීම් ගැටලුවට දායක වන ආකාරය සහ එයින් සහනයක් ලබා ගන්නේ කෙසේද යන්න පිළිබඳව සෑම වයස් කාණ්ඩයකම කණ්ඩායමට දැනුම් දීමට ව්‍යාපෘතියේ කණ්ඩායම සමත් විය.  දිවා ආහාරයෙන් පසු විනෝද ක්‍රීඩා සහ නැටුම් ව්‍යාපෘතිය අමතක නොවන මතකයන් එක්කරමින් සාර්ථකත්වය ලැබිනි.

සාගරයේ යහපත සඳහා පැහැදිලි මනසකින් යුතුව ව්‍යාපෘති අදියරයක් අවසානයේ සාර්තකව අවසන් විය.  ව්‍යාපෘතියේ සාර්ථකත්වයට දායක වූ SLIIT රොටරැක්ට් සාමාජිකයින්ට අපගේ ස්තුතිය පුදකර සිටිමු.

The Great Blue என்பது SLIIT இன் சமூக சேவைகள் பிரிவினால் ஏற்பாடு செய்யப்பட்ட ஒரு முயற்சியாகும், மேலும் இது 2021 ஆம் ஆண்டு முதல், கடல் மாசுபாடு மற்றும் சுற்றுசூழலில் கவனம் செலுத்துதலை இலக்காக கொண்டுள்ளது, இதன் மூலம் நமது தாய்நாட்டின் கரையோரப் பகுதிகளை உயர்த்தி மாற்றத்தை ஏற்படுத்த முடியும். 

இ‌ந்தத் திட்டம் ஆகஸ்ட் 6 ஆம் திகதி தொடங்கி செப்டெம்பர் 24 வரை இடம்பெற்றது, இதில் ஆர்வமுள்ள நமது Rotaract கழக உறுப்பினர்கள் இணைந்து ஒரு குறிக்கோளிற்காக பணியாற்றினார்கள்: The Great Blueயை செழுமைப்படுத்தவும் மீட்டெடுக்கவும். இத்திட்டம் தெஹிவளையில் உள்ள இலங்கை கடலோர காவல்படையில் மேற்க்கொள்ளப்பட்டு, கரையோரத்தில் கழிவுப் பொருட்களை சேகரிப்பதுடன் தொடங்கியது. 

மேலும், கடலோர காவல் நிலையம் ஒரு சிறந்த இடமாக இருந்தது; முதல் முயற்சியாக ஏற்கனவே கடற்கரையில் தொட்டிகளை அமைத்து பராமரிக்கின்றனர். இன்னும் கடலிலிருந்து கடலுக்குக் கழுவப்படும் பிளாஸ்டிக் மற்றும் குப்பைகள் அதிக அளவில் உள்ளன. இருந்தபோதிலூம் The Great Blue குழுவானது 16 பைகள் நிறைய பிளாஸ்டிக், பொலித்தீன் மற்றும் காகிதங்களை சேகரித்து, பின்னர் கொழும்பில் உள்ள உள்ளூர் கழிவு மேலாண்மை மீள்சுழற்சி மையமான ‘Ecofriends’ நிறுவனத்திடம் ஒப்படைத்து.

கழக உறுப்பினர்கள் கடற்கரையை சுத்தம் செய்வதில் மிகுந்த ஆர்வத்துடன் செய்யப்பட்டதுடன் மீள்சுழற்சிக்கான பிளாஸ்டிக் போத்தல்களை சேகரிப்பதிலும் உதவ முன்வந்தனர். பிளாஸ்டிக்கின் அதிகப்படியான மற்றும் கவனக்குறைவான பயன்பாட்டினால் சுற்றுச்சூழலுக்கு ஏற்படும் சேதம், கவனிக்கக்கூடிய நடத்தைகள் பிரச்சனைக்கு எவ்வாறு பங்களிக்கின்றன மற்றும் அதை எவ்வாறு நிவர்த்தி செய்வது என்பது பற்றி அனைத்து வயதினருக்கும் குழுவினரால் தெரிவிக்க முடிந்தது. வேடிக்கையான விளையாட்டுகள், மதிய உணவிற்குப் பின் உணவு மற்றும் நடனங்கள் திட்டத்தை மறக்கமுடியாததாகவும் வெற்றிகரமாகவும் ஆக்கியது.

கடலின் அதிக நன்மைக்கான மேற்கொள்ளப்பட்ட திட்டக் கட்டம் இறுதியாக முடிந்தது. திட்டத்தின் வெற்றிக்கு பங்களித்த SLIIT Rotaract Club இன் உறுப்பினர்களுக்கும் நன்றி தெரிவிக்க விரும்புகிறோம்.
