Friday Feels: What’s one thing you let go of this year that truly transformed your life?

Welcome to the very first issue of Friday Feels!

The core idea behind this series is simple: We want to pause the hustle and engage in honest reflection, sharing the personal stories and thought-provoking experiences that define our growth.

To kick off this series, we asked our members a simple but profound question:

We are often put under pressure to work harder and hustle faster. But often, the greatest transformation comes from letting go – a deliberate act of surrender

The responses weren’t just surprising; they were a collective lesson in freedom. Personally, I’m still working on letting go of the need for rigid control, and seeing these responses showed me just how much lighter life can be when you loosen your grip a bit.

One of the heaviest burdens we carry is the weight of other people’s opinions and expectations. It consumes our mental energy and stops us from being our authentic selves.

This is the ultimate permission to drop the façade and let your authentic self step forward…and that’s where the true confidence begins!

It also leads to inner peace, a proven truth that Rtr Sarah can certainly attest to:

This freedom also extends to the people we choose to keep close. We often find ourselves being the only one holding the rope in a relationship, it’s always us pursuing, without any reciprocity.

When you realize, your energy is non-negotiable and not for everyone, it is easier to accept what Zikra has to say about it :

I find it very funny how we spend so much time holding ourselves back by either stopping what we truly want to do, or saying “yes” to burdens we hate – all because we’re terrified letting someone down, we end up becoming professional managers of other people’s feelings.

The key to break this cycle lies in mastering the most difficult two letter word in our vocabulary –“NO” . Rtr. Shenaya says her true freedom came after reclaiming her precious time:

But the handbrake isn’t always external; sometimes it’s an internal barrier we built in ourselves. It could be the fearfear of the unknown or fear of leaving the familiar. This could keep us perfectly stuck.

But what happens when you decide that experience outweighs embarrassment? As the playwright Samuel Beckett insisted, ‘Ever tried. Ever failed. No matter. Try again. Fail again. Fail better.’

Rtr. Miyuni chose to ditch the fear and step into a wider field of vision unlocking a wealth of opportunities:

Overcoming fear allows us into step into future, but what happens when the past refuses to let go? Rtr. Akeedha shared an honest reflection on being unable to trust the present moment:

Realization of“It all adds up” is the ultimate peace. Letting go the how? and when? frees you to enjoy the now. Life is not a straight line, it’s messy, complicated and a beautiful story… and the best part are always the plot twists which makes sense after all is said and done.

Unmasking -Breaking the Unconscious Habit

We sometimes use things to shield ourselves or hide from our thoughts and feelings. In moments where we feel overwhelmed with emotions , silence can feel unbearable and leads us to fill every moment with distraction which prevents us from having true introspection.

But sometimes letting go of a psychological barrier requires a small effort of visible act of change. For one member, that visible change was the key to finally overcoming deep seated anxiety, proving that physical change holds the power for biggest internal victory.

The greatest lesson from this collective release? That the path to peace often comes with things we stop doing. It isn’t about giving up; it’s about making space for genuine growth.

I’m personally inspired to look at what quiet burdens I’m still carrying. As the year draws to a close, ask yourself: What is the one thing you need to put down today to create space for the life you truly want?
