Friday Feels: Who is one person you are profoundly grateful for having in your corner this year?

Over the past few months, this space has been a sanctuary for our shared stories, honest reflections, and collective growth. We’ve looked inward, looked forward, and learned so much together. But for our grand finale, we wanted to turn the spotlight outward, to the people who make the heavy days lighter and the victories sweeter. We’re closing this chapter on the most important note of all: Appreciation.

Welcome to the final edition of Friday feels.

We asked our community “Who is one person you are profoundly grateful for having in your corner this year ?

Here is what you had to say about the anchors, the cheerleaders, and the quiet forces in your lives.

Our first response reminds us that sometimes, the corners we need have been there all along, waiting for us to truly see them. One community member shared a beautiful realization about a parent’s quiet strength:

“My father is someone who has always been there for me, but it took me until this year to truly understand and be grateful for it. On one of the toughest days I’ve ever experienced, he saw me crying, came over, and hugged me. For a moment, everything felt alright in his warm, tight embrace. If I could, I would have frozen that time frame forever. His love touched my soul when I least expected it.”

While some anchors are lifelong, others appear exactly when we need them most, turning strangers into constants in the blink of an eye.

Another member wrote in about an unexpected connection that completely redefined their year:

“This year, I’m deeply grateful for a friend I randomly met at university just two months ago, yet it feels like decades of memories and comfort. He is honest to the core, brave, and carries himself with the respect of a true man. Whether he’s annoying me just to see me angry, listening to understand rather than judge, or guiding me when I’m wrong, he never lets me feel alone. To society, he walks like an unbreakable warrior, but with me, he is just his soft, genuine self. Spending time with him has become one of the safest, happiest parts of my year, and I hope we protect this beautiful friendship forever.”

Often, the people in our corner aren’t just there to comfort us; they are there to push us forward. They see our potential before we do, guiding us through new challenges and heavy responsibilities. As one member beautifully put it:

“A great mentor doesn’t just show you the path; they walk it with you until you find your own footing.”

“This year, I stepped into roles and responsibilities that honestly terrified me at first. But I am deeply grateful for a senior peer and leader who chose to stand firmly in my corner. In moments of self-doubt and overwhelming pressure, they offered wisdom, patience, and unwavering belief in my abilities.Having someone look out for your growth so selflessly is a rare gift, and their guidance has truly shaped the person I am becoming.”

And finally, to close out this series, I wanted to share a reflection of my own. Sometimes, the person in your corner isn’t just a safe space to rest, they are the spark that pushes you completely out of your comfort zone.

For me, it’s the very person who set this entire journey in motion:

If I look back at who pushed me to step up, join the club, and ultimately chair this very series, it is none other than our incredible editor. Through her constant encouragement and slight nudges out of my comfort zone, I’ve realized so many things about my own capabilities this year. Having a friend who doesn’t just support you where you are, but actively helps you grow into who you’re meant to be, is a rare blessing. Friday Feels wouldn’t exist without them, and honestly, neither would this version of me.

A Final Note From Us to You…

From quiet family embraces and unexpected lifelong friendships, to guiding mentors and friends who push us to be greater, our corners are filled with the magic that keeps us moving forward.

To be completely honest, I feel a heavy heart letting this series go. Friday Feels became such a safe, beautiful routine, and it feels incredibly hard to just walk away from it. But knowing it brought us closer makes it worth it. As we close the series, we want to thank you, our beautiful community. Thank you for reading, for getting vulnerable, and for sharing your hearts with us week after week. The series might be ending, but the appreciation doesn’t have to. Take a moment today to send a text, give a hug, or shout out to the person who has been in your corner this year.

Until our next adventure… stay grateful, stay connected, and have a beautiful weekend.
