Kaala Chakra

Have you ever wondered how culture can connect people beyond borders?

Kaala Chakra was an international cultural exchange initiative organized by the Rotaract club of Sri Lankan institute of information technology (SLIIT) chaired by Rtr.Agksheya Balenthiran and Rtr. Kavya Thotawatte, with the aim of celebrating diversity and strengthening global fellowship Rotaractors.

Conducted virtually through Google Meet from 18th February to 12th March 2026 the project united members from clubs including the Rotaract Club of Akash(RID 3233), Rotaract club of Bali Buleleng Sakti(RID 3420), Rotaract club of Indore Activist(RID 3040), Rotaract club of Matribhumi Baluwatar IOM(RID 3292), Rotaract club of Rudramati(RID 3292), Rotaract club of Thane North(RID 3142) and Rotaract club of YCCE(RID 3030).

The initiative was carefully designed to create an atmosphere where participants could freely share and learn from one another. Instead of the sessions to formal presentations, the organizers focused on interaction, storytelling and meaningful conversations.

The project unfolded through two exciting phases, each exploring a unique aspect of culture.

Phase 01- Exploring culture through food

The first phase of kala chakra took participants on a flavourful journey across cultures through the universal language of food. Rotaractors from different countries shared their traditional dishes, unique cooking styles, festive meals and cultural stories behind them.

More than just discussion recipes, the session highlighted how foods represent family traditions, celebrations and cultural identity. From spicy delicacies to comforting homemade favourites, every presentation brought a taste of each country closer to everyone.

The interactive discussions created a warm and lively atmosphere, proving the even though cultures may be different, food has a special way of bringing people together beyond borders.

Phase 2 – Festivals and Destinations Around the World

Building on the excitement of the first phase, the second session of Kaala Chakra took participants on a vibrant journey through global festivals and iconic destinations. Rotaractors shared the beauty of their cultural celebrations, traditions, and rituals, giving everyone a glimpse into the emotions and history behind each festival.

The session also showcased breathtaking destinations, historical landmarks, and culturally significant places from different countries, allowing participants to virtually explore the world from their screens.

Filled with engaging conversations and cultural storytelling, the phase created an immersive experience that emphasized both the uniqueness of every culture and the beautiful connections shared across the globe.

More than just a virtual exchange, Kaala Chakra became a meaningful platform that promoted cultural understanding, international friendship, and unity among Rotaractors across borders.
