Start small. Think BIG. Hustle Hard!

After the pandemic arose in Sri Lanka, many small business owners faced many downfalls in surviving through the crisis. The mentality and attitudes of such citizens were affected gravely and finding the motivation amidst such tough times is difficult. Even Though it seemed that the country was getting back to normal, with the recent updates it is evident that the situation will continue for a prolonged period, thus supporting the community in whichever way possible is key. Thus the idea for ‘Kickstarter’, dawned upon the team in attempt to combat this issue.

Kickstarter is an initiative by the Rotaract Club of SLIIT to recognize and promote the small businesses in the local community. This is a project done under the third area of focus of “COVID-19-STOP THE SPREAD-Beyond COVID-19” which was initiated by Rotaract in Rotary International District 3220 Sri Lanka and Maldives to arrest the further transmission of the virus and restore the country back to normal.

It is a video-based project that will encourage such small businesses in the local community by featuring their business story on the club’s official social media pages. With over 9,000+ followers on Facebook and 2,000+ followers on Instagram alone, the businesses will be promoted to a vast audience increasing the reach to customers by a great extent.The businesses selected for the interview ranged from cake designers, sweets and delicacy product businesses, to auto vehicles spare parts businesses and tech platform creators. Having a variety of small businesses further increased the scope of Kickstarter and would reach to a bigger audience in terms of creativity. Encapsulating the objectives of the project of motivating existing entrepreneurs and further encouraging more startups in Sri Lanka, the slogan; “Start small. Think BIG. Hustle Hard” was used for the project campaigns.The project will motivate the community by sharing real life experiences of small businesses, and the citizens are encouraged to target for entrepreneurships. Thus, in the long term the rest of the community is also motivated to engage in self-employment. This project is done with the main aim of encouraging the small business owners while restoring the country’s economy back to normal at a steady pace.

ශ්‍රී ලංකාව වසංගතය විසින් වෙලාගැනීමෙන් පසුව, බොහෝ කුඩා ව්‍යාපාර හිමියන් තම ව්‍යාපාර අහිමි වීමෙන් විශාල අර්බුදයකට මුහුණ දුන්හ. මේ නිසා ඇතිවූ මානසික පසුබෑම හා ආකල්පමය බිඳවැටීම හේතුවෙන් යලිත් නැගී සිටීමට අවශ්‍ය උත්තේජනය ලබා ගැනීම අපහසුය. රට යථා තත්ත්වයට පත්වන බවක් පෙනෙන්නට තිබුණද, සිදුවූ හානිය සැලකිය යුතු කාලයක් පවතිනු ඇති බව පැහැදිලිය. මේ නිසා හැකි සෑම ආකාරයකින්ම ප්‍රජාවට සහාය වීම වැදගත්ය. ‘Kickstarter’ ව්‍යාපෘතිය ආරම්භයට හේතුව මෙයම විය.

Kickstarter යනු දේශීය ප්‍රජාවේ කුඩා ව්‍යාපාර හඳුනාගෙන ප්‍රවර්ධනය කිරීම සඳහා SLIIT රොටරැක්ට් ‍සමාජය විසින් ආරම්භ කරන ලද්දකි. රොටරි අන්තර්ජාතික දිස්ත්‍රික්කයේ 3220 ශ්‍රී ලංකාව සහ මාලදිවයිනේ රොටරැක්ට් සමාජ විසින් රට යථා තත්වයට පත් කිරීමට දායක වීමේ අභිලාශයෙන් ආරම්භ කරන ලද “COVID-19-STOP THE SPREAD-Beyond COVID-19” හි තුන්වන ක්ෂේත්‍රය යටතේ සිදු කරන ලද ව්‍යාපෘතිය මෙයයි.වීඩියෝ පාදක ව්‍යාපෘතියක් වන මෙමගින් ප්‍රාදේශීය ප්‍රජාව තුළ කුඩා ව්‍යාපාර ගැන දැනුවත් භාවය වැඩි දියුනු කර කුඩා ව්‍යාපාරිකයින් දිරිගන්වනු ලබන අතර ඔවුන්ගේ ව්‍යාපාරික කතාව අප සමාජයේ නිල සමාජ මාධ්‍ය පිටුවල ඇතුළත් කෙරිනි. ෆේස්බුක් හි අනුගාමිකයන් 9,000 කට අධික සංඛ්‍යාවක් සහ ඉන්ස්ටග්‍රෑම් හි පමණක් අනුගාමිකයන් 2,000 ක් සිටින බැවින් මෙම ව්‍යාපාර විශාල ප්‍රේක්ෂක සංඛ්‍යාවක් වෙත ප්‍රවර්ධනය කිරීමට හැකි වුනි. KS8 සම්මුඛ පරීක්ෂණය සඳහා තෝරාගත් ව්‍යාපාර කේක් නිර්මාණකරුවන්, රසකැවිලි සහ ප්‍රණීත නිෂ්පාදන ව්‍යාපාර, වාහන අමතර කොටස් ව්‍යාපාර සහ තාක්ෂණික වේදිකා නිර්මාණකරුවන් දක්වා විහිදුනු පරාසයක විය. විවිධාකාර කුඩා ව්‍යාපාර තිබීම Kickstarter හි විෂය පථය තවදුරටත් ඉහළ නැංවූ අතර නිර්මාණශීලිත්වය නිසා විශාල ප්‍රේක්ෂක සංඛ්‍යාවක් කරා ළඟා වන්නට ඉඩකඩ සැලසුනු බව කිව යුතුමය. වර්ථමානයේ සිටිනා ව්‍යවසායකයින් දිරිගැන්වීම සහ ශ්‍රී ලංකාවේ නව ව්‍යාපාර ආරම්භ කිරීම තවදුරටත් දිරිගැන්වීම ව්‍යාපෘතියේ මූලික අරමුණු කරගනිමින්, “කුඩා ඇරඹුමක්. විශාල චින්තනයක්. නොපසුබට දිරියක් ” යන්න අපි තේමා පාඨය කරගත්තෙමු.

කුඩා ව්‍යාපාරවල සැබෑ ජීවන අත්දැකීම් බෙදාහදා ගැනීමෙන් මෙම ව්‍යාපෘතිය ප්‍රජාව දිරිමත් කරනු ඇති අතර ව්‍යවසායකත්වය ඉහල නැංවීමට පුරවැසියන් දිරිමත් කරනු ලැබේ. මේ අනුව, දිගු කාලීනව සෙසු ප්‍රජාව ද ස්වයං රැකියාවල නිරත වීමට පෙළඹේ. මෙම ව්‍යාපෘතිය සිදු කරනු ලැබුවේ කුඩා ව්‍යාපාර හිමිකරුවන් දිරිගැන්වීම මගින් රටේ ආර්ථිකය යථා තත්ත්වයට පත් කිරීමේ අභිලාශය පෙරදැරි කරගෙනය.

இலங்கையில் தொற்றுநோயின் தாக்கத்தால், பல சிறு வணிக உரிமையாளர்கள் நெருக்கடியினால் பல வீழ்ச்சிகளை எதிர்கொண்டனர். அத்தகைய குடிமக்களின் மனநிலையும் மனப்பான்மையும் பெரிதும் பாதிக்கப்பட்டுள்ளன, இதுபோன்ற கடினமான காலங்களுக்கு இடையில் உந்துதலைக் கண்டறிவது கடினம். நாடு இயல்பு நிலைக்குத் திரும்புவதாகத் தோன்றினாலும், சமீபத்திய செய்திகளுக்கு அமைய நிலைமை நீண்ட காலத்திற்கு தொடரும் என்பது தெளிவாகிறது, இதனால் எம்மால் முடிந்தவரை சமூகத்தை ஆதரிப்பது முக்கியம். இவ்வாறு ‘கிக்ஸ்டார்ட்டர்’ யோசனை, இந்த சிக்கலை எதிர்த்துப் போராடும் முயற்சியில் அணிக்கு வந்தது.

கிக்ஸ்டார்ட்டர் என்பது உள்ளூர் சமூகத்தில் உள்ள சிறு வணிகங்களை அங்கீகரித்து ஊக்குவிப்பதற்கான SLIIT இன் ரோட்டராக்ட் கிளப்பின் ஒரு முயற்சியாகும். ரோட்டரி சர்வதேச மாவட்டம் 3220 இலங்கை மற்றும் மாலத்தீவில் ரோட்டராக்டால் தொடங்கப்பட்ட “COVID-19-STOP THE SPREAD-Beyond COVID-19” இன் மூன்றாவது பகுதியின் கீழ் நடத்தப்பட்ட ஒரு திட்டமாகும்.
