Christmas is a joyful season filled with lots of love and blessings. Everyone around the world especially children eagerly wait for Santa to bring them their gifts and make their wishes come true. Unfortunately because of poverty and other societal gaps, not everyone is lucky to have a beautiful Christmas.
To overcome this barrier, the Rotaract Club of SLIIT launched project, “Christmas for Everyone 3.0” with the help of our generous donations, in order to spread and share the joy of Christmas with as many children that we can.
This year we managed to gift the Shilpa Child Development Center in Narahenpita and some kids in need around Colombo. With one goal of ticking off some items in the wish lists of the children at the Shilpa Center, the team went around shopping for the items that the 24 kids at the center had written down in their wish lists and wrapped them. While maintaining the health guidelines strictly, on the 24th of January, a team of 6 members, headed out with a bunch of gifts and gift packs with hearts full of excitement. First we visited the Shilpa Centre and thanks to our amazing donors, some items we gifted them included watches, dolls, books, shoes and toy cars. The kids at Shilpa Center were very happy to open up their gifts and play with them. We also donated other necessities such as shampoos to them.
We didn’t stop there.
Afterwards we drove around Wellawatte, Bambalapitiya and Evergreen Park in search of families in need that needed a bit of cheering up. Gift packs with a variety of sweets, chocolates and a writing board were shared with the children that we came across. To encourage families to wear masks, we also handed over masks to them. We were truly lucky, to see the smiles in the eyes of the children when they opened up the packs. It was amazing to see, how even a small kind gesture for someone who really needs it, can have a big impact on them. After a tiring yet worthwhile day of going around and sharing our gifts with the children, we stopped by for a treat for ourselves; cold milk packets and then headed home with hearts full of content.
This year, was definitely a challenge for us to organize the project owing to the pandemic. The team was limited in terms of numbers as we couldn’t gather in large groups. Although we received a significant amount of donations from our kind-hearted volunteers, the collection and gift wrapping process was longer compared to the previous years. However, regardless of all the troubles we had to go through, the team was able to pull it off successfully, in the true spirit of Christmas.
Christmas for Everyone 3.0, reminds us that we should always be generous at heart and volunteer whenever we can to help those in need. By doing random acts of kindness whenever possible, we can bring the joyous spirit of Christmas into our lives every day.
නත්තල යනු ආදරයෙන් හා ආශිර්වාදවලින් පිරුණු ප්‍රීතිමත් සමයකි. ලොව පුරා සිටින සෑම කෙනෙක්ම, විශේෂයෙන් ළමයින්, නත්තල් සීයා ඔවුන්ගේ තෑගි ගෙනැවිත් ඔවුන්ගේ පැතුම් ඉටු කරන තෙක් බලා සිටිති. අවාසනාවකට දුප්පත්කම සහ වෙනත් සමාජීය හිඩැස් නිසා, නත්තලේ අසිරිය විදගැනීමට සෑම කෙනෙකුටම වාසනාව නැත.මෙම බාධකය මඟහරවා ගැනීම සඳහා SLIIT රොටරැක්ට් සමාජය විසින්, අපගේ නොමසුරු පරිත්‍යාගවල ආධාරයෙන් “Christmas for Everyone 3.0” ව්‍යාපෘතිය දියත් කරන ලදී. නත්තල් සමයේ ප්‍රීතිය අපට හැකි තරම් දරුවන් සමඟ බෙදා ගැනීම අපි අරමුණු කලෙමු.
මේ වසරේදී අපි නාරාහේන්පිට පිහිටි ශිල්පා ළමා සංවර්ධන මධ්‍යස්ථානයට සහ කොළඹ අවට, අවශ්‍යතා ඇති ළමයින්ට තෑගි දීමට සමත් වීමු. ශිල්පා මධ්‍යස්ථානයේ ළමුන්ගේ පැතුම් ලැයිස්තුවේ ඇති අයිතම කිහිපයක් තෝරා ගෙන ඔවුන්ගේ පැතුම් ඉටු කර දීමට අපි ක්‍රියා කලෙමු. සෞඛ්‍ය මාර්ගෝපදේශ දැඩි ලෙස පවත්වා ගෙන, ජනවාරි 24 වන දින සාමාජිකයින් 6 දෙනෙකුගෙන් යුත් කණ්ඩායමක් තෑගි ලබාදීමට හදවතින්ම එක් රොක් වුනෙමු. එතනින් නොනැවතුනු අපි,පසුව වැල්ලවත්ත, බම්බලපිටිය සහ එවර්ග්‍රීන් උද්‍යානය වටා ගමන් කළෙමු. විවිධ රසකැවිලි, චොකලට් සහ ලිවීමේ පුවරුවක් සහිත තෑගි ඇසුරුම් අප හමු වූ දරුවන් සමඟ බෙදා ගත්තෙමු. මුව ආවරණ පැළඳීමට පවුල් දිරිමත් කිරීම සඳහා අපි ඔවුන්ට මුහුණු ආවරණද පරිත්‍යාග කලෙමු.
ඒ පුංචි දරුවන් ත්‍යාග ඇසුරුම් විවෘත කරන විට ඔවුන්ගේ ඇස්වල සිනහව දැකීමට අපි සැබවින්ම වාසනාවන්ත වීමු. අවශ්‍යතාවයෙන් පසුවන කෙනෙකුට කුඩා කාරුණික අභිනයකින් පවා විශාල බලපෑමක් ඇති කල හැකි බව දැකීමට පුදුම සහගතය. වෙහෙසකර නමුත් වටිනා දවසක් ගත කිරීමෙන් පසු සහ දරුවන් සමඟ අපගේ තෑගි බෙදාගැනීමෙන් පසු, අපි අපටම සීතල කිරි පැකට්ටුවකින් සංග්‍රහ කරගත්තෙමු.වසංගතය හේතුවෙන් ව්‍යාපෘතිය සංවිධානය කිරීම මේ වසරේ නියත වශයෙන්ම අපට අභියෝගයක් විය. අපට විශාල කණ්ඩායම් වශයෙන් රැස්විය නොහැකි බැවින් කණ්ඩායම සංඛ්‍යාත්මකව සීමා විය. අපගේ කාරුණික ස්වේච්ඡා සේවකයන්ගෙන් අපට සැලකිය යුතු පරිත්‍යාග ප්‍රමාණයක් ලැබුණද, එකතු කිරීම සහ තෑගි ඔතා ගැනීමේ ක්‍රියාවලිය පෙර වසරවලට සාපේක්ෂව දිගු විය. කෙසේ වෙතත්, අපට මුහුණදීමට සිදු වූ සියලු කරදර නොසලකා, නත්තල් සමයේ සැබෑ ස්වරූපයෙන් එය සාර්ථකව නිමා කිරීමට කණ්ඩායමට හැකි විය.
Christmas for Everyone 3.0, අපට මතක් කර දෙන්නේ අප සැමවිටම ත්‍යාගශීලී හදවතකින් ලොව දෙස බැලිය යුතු බවත්, අවශ්‍ය අයට උපකාර කිරීමට හැකි සෑම විටම ස්වේච්ඡාවෙන් ඉදිරිපත් විය යුතු බවත් ය. හැකි සෑම විටම අහඹු ලෙස කරුණාවන්ත ක්‍රියාවන් කිරීමෙන්, අපට සෑම දිනකම නත්තලේ ප්‍රීතිය වැලදගත හැකි වනු ඇත.
நத்தார் என்பது மிகுந்த அன்பும் ஆசீர்வாதமும் நிறைந்த ஒரு மகிழ்ச்சியான பருவம் ஆகும். உலகெங்கிலும் உள்ள ஒவ்வொருவரும், குறிப்பாக சிறுவர்கள் தங்கள் பரிசுகளை நத்தார் தாத்தா தருவதற்கும் தங்களின் விருப்பங்களை நிறைவேற்றுவதற்கும் ஆவலுடன் காத்திருப்பார்கள். துரதிர்ஷ்டவசமாக வறுமை மற்றும் வேறு பல சமூக இடைவெளிகளால், ஒரு அழகான நத்தாரை கொண்டாடும் அதிஷ்டம் எல்லோருக்கும் கிடைப்பதில்லை. இந்த தடையை வெற்றிகொள்ள, SLIIT ரோட்டராக்ட் கழகம், நத்தாரின் மகிழ்ச்சியை எங்களால் முடிந்தளவு பல குழந்தைகளுடன் பகிர்ந்து கொள்ளும் நோக்கில் எங்களுக்கு கிடைத்த தாராளமான நன்கொடைகளின் உதவியுடன் “Christmas for Everyone 3.0” என்ற திட்டத்தை அறிமுகப்படுத்தியது.
இந்த ஆண்டு நாரஹன்பிட்டாவில் உள்ள ஷில்பா குழந்தைகள் மேம்பாட்டு மையத்திற்கும், கொழும்பைச் சுற்றியுள்ள தேவைகளையுடைய சில குழந்தைகளுக்கும் பரிசுகளை வழங்க முடிந்தது. ஷில்பா மையத்தில் உள்ள 24 குழந்தைகள் தங்கள் விருப்பப்பட்டியலில் எழுதி வைத்திருந்த பொருட்களில் சிலவற்றையாவது பெற்றுக்கொடுக்க வேண்டும் என்ற ஒரு குறிக்கோளுடன், எங்கள் குழு விருப்பப்பட்டியலில் உள்ள பொருட்களை வாங்குவதற்காகச் சென்று அவற்றை பொதிசெய்தது. ஜனவரி 24 ஆம் தேதி, 6 உறுப்பினர்கள் அடங்கிய குழு, சுகாதார வழிகாட்டுதல்களை கடைபிடித்துக்கொண்டு ஒரு தொகுதி பரிசுகளையும் பரிசுப் பொதிகளையும் உற்சாகத்துடன் எடுத்துச்சென்றது. முதலில் நாங்கள் ஷில்பா மையத்தைப் பார்வையிட்டு பரிசுப் பொதிகளை வழங்கினோம். இந்த விடையத்தில் எங்கள் நன்கொடையாளர்களுக்கு நன்றி தெரிவிக்க கடமைப்பட்டுள்ளோம். காரணம், நாங்கள் அவர்களுக்கு பரிசளித்த பொருட்களில் நீங்கள் வழங்கிய கடிகாரங்கள், பொம்மைகள், புத்தகங்கள், காலணிகள் மற்றும் பொம்மை கார்கள் என்பவையும் அடங்கும். மேலும் ஷாம்பு போன்ற பிற அத்தியாவசிய பொருட்களையும் அவர்களுக்கு நன்கொடையாக வழங்கினோம். ஷில்பா மையத்தில் உள்ள குழந்தைகள் தங்கள் பரிசுகளைத் திறந்து அவற்றுடன் விளையாடுவதில் மிகவும் மகிழ்ச்சியடைந்தனர்.
எங்கள் பயணம் அத்துடன் நிறைவடையவில்லை…..
அதன் பின்னர் நாங்கள் வெள்ளவத்தை, பம்பலப்பிட்டிய மற்றும் எவர்க்ரீன் பூங்காவை உதவி தேவைப்படும் குடும்பங்களைத் கண்டுபிடிக்கும் நோக்கில் சுற்றித்திரிந்தோம். பலவிதமான இனிப்புகள், சாக்லேட்டுகள் மற்றும் ஒரு எழுதும் பலகையுடன் கூடிய பரிசுப் பொதிகளை நாங்கள் எதிர்கொண்ட குழந்தைகளுடன் பகிர்ந்து கொண்டோம். அத்துடன் முகமூடிகள் அணிவதை குடும்பங்களிடையே ஊக்குவிக்கும் நோக்கில், நாங்கள் அவர்களுக்கு முகமூடிகளையும் வழங்கினோம். குழந்தைகள் பொதிகளைத் திறக்கும்போது அவர்களின் கண்களில் ஏற்றப்பட புன்னகையைப் பார்த்த நாங்கள் உண்மையிலேயே அதிர்ஷ்டசாலிகள்தான். தேவையுடைய ஒருவருக்கு, சிறிய வகையிலேனும் ஒரு உதவியை செய்யும்போது அவர்களுக்கு அது ஒரு பெரிய தாக்கத்தை ஏற்படுத்தும் என்பதை கண்ணோக்கும் போது அது உண்மையிலேயே ஆச்சரியமாக இருந்தது.
“Christmas for Everyone 3.0” என்ற செயல்திட்டம், நாம் எப்போதும் தாராள மனப்பான்மையுடன் இருக்க வேண்டும் என்பதையும் தேவைப்படுபவர்களுக்கு எப்போது வேண்டுமானாலும் உதவ முன்னிற்க வேண்டும் என்பதையும் வெளிப்படுத்துகின்றது. சிறிய சிறிய நற்ச்செயல்களை செய்வதன் மூலம், நத்தாரின் மகிழ்ச்சியான உணர்வை நம் நம்முடைய வாழ்க்கையில் தினமும் அனுபவிக்க முடியும்.
