Research paper writing and publishing

All of us will be facing or have faced the struggles of writing the final research paper for our degree at a certain point of our undergraduate life. Sometimes we can be in situations where we tend to refer to sources that are not credible, have lack of guidance in deciding a topic, conducting a study, following the correct format of writing, and many other factors that we didn’t even know exists! Have you been through a similar situation?

‘Research paper writing and publishing’ was an event organized by the Rotaract club of SLIIT on 18^th March 2021, which was conducted by Himal A. Suraweera – Senior Lecturer in the Department of Electrical and Electronic Engineering – University of Peradeniya. Microsoft teams were used as the mode of communication with over 50 very engaged participants, for this event.

Himal is also a senior member of the IEEE and editor for the IEEE transactions on communications. He has received many awards which include IEEE ComSoc Asia-Pacific Outstanding Young Researcher Award in 2011, which makes it evident that there is no better person than Himal, to educate us on mastering one’s research paper. The key areas discussed in the session include some useful tips and tricks for conducting a successful research paper, how to publish a research paper, and the difference between a thesis and a research paper. A very interactive Q&A session took place at the end of the presentation, where questions were asked from the registered and the active participants of the event.

Himal’s answers gave great insights to the participants and his patience in answering almost all the questions was appreciable. Moreover, it was a very informative and educational session that gave significant information for students who are or will be working on their research papers. So once again if you feel you haven’t still mastered your skills in research paper writing, Himal is the right person to get guidance from!

උපාධි අපේක්ෂකයින්ගේ ජීවිතයේ එක්තරා අවස්ථාවක දී අපගේ උපාධිය සඳහා අවසාන පර්යේෂණ පත්‍රය ලිවීමේ අරගලයට අප සියලු දෙනාම මුහුණ දී හෝ මුහුණ දෙමින් සිටිමු. සමහර විට අප විශ්වසනීය නොවන මූලාශ්‍ර වෙත යොමු වීමට නැඹුරු වන, මාතෘකාවක් තීරණය කිරීමේදී මග පෙන්වීමක් නොමැතිකම, අධ්‍යයනයක් රහිතවීම, නිවැරදි ලිවීමේ ආකෘතිය අනුගමනය නොකිරීම සහ අප නොදන්නා තවත් බොහෝ සාධක තිබේ. ! ඔබත් ඒ හා සමාන තත්වයකට මුහුණ දී තිබේද?

‘Research paper writing & Publishing’ 2021 මාර්තු 18 වන දින SLIIT රොටරැක්ට් සමාජය විසින් සංවිධානය කරන ලද අතර එය පේරාදෙණිය විශ්ව විද්‍යාලයේ විදුලි හා ඉලෙක්ට්‍රොනික ඉංජිනේරු දෙපාර්තමේන්තුවේ ජ්‍යෙෂ්ඨ කථිකාචාර්ය හිමාල් ඒ. සුරවීර මහතා විසින් මෙහෙයවන ලදී. මෙම අවස්ථාවට Microsoft teams හරහා 50 කට අධික පිරිසක් සහභාගී වූහ. හිමාල් IEEE හි ජ්‍යෙෂ්ඨ සාමාජිකයෙකු වන අතර සන්නිවේදනය පිළිබඳ IEEE ගනුදෙනු සඳහා සංස්කාරකවරයෙකි. 2011 දී IEEE කොම්සොක් ආසියා-පැසිෆික් විශිෂ්ට තරුණ පර්යේෂක සම්මානය ඇතුළු සම්මාන රාශියක් ඔහු දිනා ඇති අතර, එමඟින් මෙම සැසිය මෙහෙයවීමට හිමාල්ට වඩා හොඳ පුද්ගලයෙකු නොමැති බව පැහැදිලිව පෙනේ. සැසිවාරයේ සාකච්ඡා කරන ලද ප්‍රධාන ක්ෂේත්‍ර අතරට සාර්ථක පර්යේෂණ පත්‍රිකාවක් පැවැත්වීම සඳහා ප්‍රයෝජනවත් උපදෙස් සහ උපක්‍රම, පර්යේෂණ පත්‍රිකාවක් ප්‍රකාශයට පත් කරන්නේ කෙසේද සහ තවත් බොහෝ දේ ඇතුළත් විය.

හිමාල්ගේ පිළිතුරු තුලින් සහභාගීවන්නන් විශාල අවබෝධයක් ලබා ගත් අතර සෑම ප්‍රශ්නයකටම පාහේ පිළිතුරු දීමට ඔහු දැක්වූ ඉවසීම අගය කළ හැකිය. එපමණක් නොව, එය ඉතා හරවත් සැසිවාරයක් වූ අතර ඔවුන්ගේ පර්යේෂණ පත්‍රිකා නිවැරදිව එලිදැක්වීමට සිසුන්ට සැලකිය යුතු තොරතුරු රාශියක් ලබා දී ඇත. එබැවින් පර්යේෂණ පත්‍රිකා ලිවීමේදී ඔබ තවමත් ඔබේ කුසලතා ප්‍රගුණ කර නොමැති බව ඔබට දැනේ නම්, මග පෙන්වීම ලබා ගැනීමට සුදුසුම පුද්ගලයා හිමාල් ය!

‘Research paper writing and publishing’ என்பது 2021 மார்ச் 18 ஆம் தேதி SLIIT யின் ரோட்டராக்ட் கிளப் ஏற்பாடு செய்த ஒரு நிகழ்வாகும், இந்நிகழ்ச்சிக்கு 50 க்கும் மேற்பட்ட பங்கேற்பாளர்களுடன் மைக்ரோசாப்ட் அணிகள் மூலம் ஹிமல் ஏ. சுரவீர இவ் அமர்வை நடத்தினர்.
